Appropriate keywords for health sciences libraries in the 21st century are “digital”, “network”, and “collaboration”. This report reviews future trends in advanced information activities in health sciences libraries focusing on these keywords. Newly introduced activities are information management system, IAIMS, projects in the form of intranet in medical schools; various advanced projects conducted by the US National Library of Medicine, especially the new, free MEDLINE, PubMed; examples of digital libraries in medical fields; and education issues concerning health sciences librarians. The author insisted there will be no hedges between primary sources, journals and secondary sources, and databases in the near future.
