Highly reliable values of blood flow volume of skin were obtained with a digital recorder DF-F 1(TEAC Inc.). The subjects were 20 healthy subjects including medical practitioners. The LASERFLO BPM 403(T.S.I., Inc.)was used to measure the blood flow volume of skin. Data were recorded with a digital recorder DR-F 1(TEAC Inc.), and an analysis system that displays the maximum, minimum and mean values on a personal computer(PC-9081 EX, NEC)was developed. Although there was no significant right-to-left difference in the blood flow volume of the skin any site of the body, there was a distinct difference among sites : the values on the right and left buccal regions were 6.0 and 6.2,respectively, markedly(P<0.01)higher than at other sites. They were slightly low at the legs. However, there were no significant differences among other sites of measurement. Cold pressure test revealed that blood flow volume was temporarily increaded after loading, and improved thereafter. Trend recorder has conventionally been adopted, but determinations are complicated by having to exclued artifacts due to fluctuations of the baseline and body motion. The system used in this study enable these artifacts to be removed easily and provided more accurate inforamation, suggesting the usefulness of measurement of blood flow volume of skin in the treatment of various diseases.
