In order to get acid resistant quality for cast iron, addition of various kinds of elements such as Ni, Cr, Mo and Si is considerable. In this report we state only a research of acid resistant cast iron of Si system. This report refers to the effect regarding between variation of Si and C% and melting, casting, cutting faculty, mechanical strength and acid resistant quality. As a result, we found within 5∼6% Si alloy has good quality against cutting and mechanical strength. Range of possibility of cutting faculty is within 13% Si: Over 12% Si is superior in acid resistant quality and over 14% Si is best. From these results, we consider acid resistant cast iron including 14, 12 and 5% Si is practical, then we are going to study about these 3 alloys precisely in the following period.
