This paper describes a depth recording technique for commercial VTR in which the digital audio signal and the video signal are recorded on the depth-multiplexed layer of a magnetic tape. Digital audio signals with a data rate of 2.6Mbps were recorded with video signals. To avoid crosstalk, a digital modulation method has been studied which gives less low-frequency components. The 0-QDPSK method was most suitable to magnetic recording. A data error rate of less than 10
-4 was obtained and interference was eliminated.
