A network-based A/V server system for NHK International TV Broadcasting services was developed and successfully applied in its operations. In International TV Broadcasting services, programs are selected from NHK's four channels for time-differential broadcasting after processing of broadcasting copyrights. Programs were recorded automatically and playback randomly by this system, and edited rapidly by nonlinear editing equipment. This A/V server system improves the efficiency of International TV Broadcasting services by saving labor and reducing the cost of equipment operation, maintenance and program production and it can also be expanded easily in the future.
