In the Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting(DTTB)of Japan, stable mobile reception under the multi-path fading condition must be realized. Especially, presumption of the propagation path characteristic is important for symbol compensation. We focused to the segment data of DQPSK-OFDM(QPSK-OFDM)received by mobile reception in this research. Since the technique of analyzing this information and presuming the propagation path characteristic was examined, it reports. In digital broadcast area, this technique can perform signal processing with received DTTB channel. Therefore, the propagation path characteristic under the mobile reception environment can be measured. Moreover, the point that does not need any addition information new because of measurement is the feature.

Development of the symbol compensation technology over multi-path fading is indispensable to mobile reception of Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting. In this research, the propagation path characteristic is extracted for from a DQPSK-OFDM(QPSK-OFDM)segment that received by the mobile reception. The information about the propagation path characteristic is shared among classes, such as QPSK, 16QAM, and 64QAM, and the propagation path characteristic is presumed with high precision. And the method of compensating multi-path fading was studied to symbol equalization using presumed value.

OFDM scheme is useful for digital signal transmission under multi-path fading environments. We have developed an experimental digital HDTV outside-broadcasting links(OBL)using space diversity reception. This paper describes outline of the experimental OBL, mobile link budget, and the result of indoor experiments compared digital SDTV OBL with the experimental OBL. It also describes the result of outdoor experiments that evaluate a space diversity effect and a correlation coefficient of antennas.

The downlink beamforming processing has been realized as promising scheme for the 3^<rd> generation mobile radio system since several services will be asymmetric. We propose a novel adaptive downlink beamforming for FDD in CDMA mobile radio using a training sequence process with high data rate for transmission. The proposed method obtains the optimal complex weights to realize the highest CINR reception, the information of which is sent from each mobile terminal after signal processing is completed.

It is shown that performance of subband adaptive array(SBAA)in multipath fading environment is gradually degraded as the delay of the multipath components increases. The implementation of SBAA combining a data transmission scheme adding a cyclic prefix has been introduced as an efficient scheme to improve the SBAA performance. However, the principle of SBAA using the novel data transmission sheme has been only limited to simulation results. In this paper, we present detailed theoretical analysis of the SBAA in multipath fading environment. The performance analysis of the SBAA if first presented and then simulation is performed to verify the method.

Upon decision of official adoption of 30MHz〜18GHz fully-anechoic room by CENELEC, it is imminent to furnish a free-space environment to the existing open test site or a semi-radio anechoic room(with a metallic-floor reflection type). Solving this problem, use of a broadband radio-wave absorber may firstly be considered to cover VHF through microwave frequencies, however, some problems in frequency characteristics, cost and widespread use there of still remain in these depression days. This paper deals with an engineering design technique using two to four metallic fences arranged appropriately to realize the free-space environment satisfying the internationally recommended criteria over the frequencies up to 400 GHz, the upper limit by CISPR and coping with such new technologies as broadband mobile radio, bluetooth, ITS, etc.

This paper proposes a new propagation model to accurately predict path building-penetration loss. Account is taken of the structural openings along the paths : it is assumed that outdoor-to-indoor paths go only through the openings. Introducing angle dependency of the losses with the paths penetrating into the indoor area makes it possible to accurately predict path building-penetration loss. A series of field test took place to evaluate values of parameters related with the path building penetration such as coefficients representing angle and distance dependences of the losses. Results of the field measurements show that the proposed model can predict the path building-penetration loss more accurately than the COST231 model.

Recently, use of polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar(POL-SAR)has become indispensable tool for terrain observation, classification and disaster surveillance. In this report, as a basic research, we aimed at figuring out the polarimetric scattering characteristics of buildings. We measured scattering matrices of miniature model of buildings in a laboratory using a step frequency radar(Network Analyzer). To examine scattering characteristics of the building, we decomposed this scattering matrix into three components(properties of sphere, diplane, helix)and three components scattering power(surface scattering, double bounce, volume scattering). The percentages of each component from the scattering matrix of building are shown in this report.

Recently, electromagnetic waves are widely used for various applications, especially for mobile communications, and superresolution techniques like a MUSIC method have become indispensable method for high resolution Direction-of-Arrival(DOA)estimation with an antenna array. However, arrays oftne have gain, phase, and mutual coupling errors that makes array manifold errorsin MUSIC estimation. They deteriorate estimation accuracy of the MUSIC. In this report, we propose on antenna array calibration method for superresolution array(SRA)using known sources. Also, we show experimental results of a circular array, and show that the proposed method is effective for SRA calibration.

Recently, researches for direction-of-arrival(DOA)estimation using antenna array have made great progress. Especially, it is desired for the estimation by superresolution techniques to apply to communication systems as well as sensings. However, implementation of perfect antenna array which ofen appears in formulation of superresolution techniques is impossible and must supplement it by calibration of antenna array before appling superresolution technique. In this report, we propose a calibration-parameter estimation method for antenna array that utilized wave sources whose DOAs are already known. The main improvement in this method is reduction of number of data sets for calibration.

Small antennas for terminal stations in mobile communication are proposed. The proposed antennas consist of a vertical inner straight conductor and a close wound coil shape outer conducting wire. The antennas are fed by a coaxial cable between the lower port of the inner conductor and the lower port of the outer conductor. As the terminal conditions at the top end of two conductors, the short type and the open type are proposed. The short termination antenna has a height of about 1/20 wavelength, and the open termination antenna has a height of about 1/80 wavelength. Both antennas have a good matching to the 50Ω coaxial cable without any matching circuit. The proposed antennas have an omnidirectional radiation pattern which is the same as the radiation pattern of the monopole antenna. The antennas have a gain of -8 dBi and -18 dBi, respectively.

Since mobile telecommunication terminals including a cellular phone are used near a human head. it is necessary to take their affect into design of the antenna and/or the performance of terminals. The folding-type cellular phone is widely used in recent personal communication. In this type of phone, the high frequency current concentrates on the flexible print board which is used for connecting two conducting cases. Therefore, it is concerned that the flexible printed board is reduced the antenna efficiency seriously. In this paper, the efficiency of the folding type cellular phone is calculated using FDTD method and the effects of the flexible print board to the efficiency are investigated for antenna position on the case.
