In a surgical simulator for blood vessel deformation, we propose a deformation method that can make blood vessels longer and shrunk by calculating spring force, where the blood vessel is constructed with mass spring model. Also, some surgical simulators are connected with Client/Server model for corporative surgery and remote operation, and the server has the right of client control for joining and leaving. Finally, this function of the server could make clients join and leave at any time even during the execution of the surgery.

We have generated 3D wake wave by using computer graphics. Wake wave can be generated by adding several Kelvin waves that have different phases. The amplitude of the wave should be reduced due to water viscosity as time passes. For the simulation, we estimated the wavelength and the amplitude based on the image of a wake wave made by a waterfowl. Finally, we have confirmed that the proposed method can generate wake wave correctly by comparing the generated CG image and the photograph of a swimming waterfowl.

This paper describes an input operation method for VR walk-through by using a Web camera. An operator, who has markers on his/her knees, makes stepping motion at the same spot in front of a Web camera. The stepping motion is input to a PC through the web camera and the markers are tracked in real time so that the stepping speed is calculated. The operator can walk through in a virtual town generated by computer graphics according to the stepping speed. Finally, smooth and real-time walk-through operation has been achieved by using multi threads for recognition of the stepping motion and rendering of the virtual town.

This paper proposes a method to automatically extract building areas and to distinguish the roof shape of each building from a high resolution aerial photograph. First, all the straight lines are extracted from an aerial photograph by Hough transformation, and building areas are extracted by detecting straight lines parallel to the roads since the boundary of the building region is usually composed of straight lines, and is parallel to the road. Next, edges included in every building area are extracted with Sobel operaton. Moreover, the brightness difference among roof surfaces caused by the sunlight is examined. As a result, the extraction rate of building areas was only 58.6%. However, the distinction rate of the roof shape against every building area has reached 87.9% by the edge extraction.

The computer-generated disk hologram is the flat hologram whose reconstructed image can be observed from 360 degrees. In our previous study, we have achieved the wide viewing angle with the modified fringe printer. However, the object was very simple. Therefore, we create the disk hologram with a complicate object which uses hidden-surface removal. As a result, we can confirm that the disk hologram is suitable for display.

In our previous study, we proposed an animated computer-generated cylindrical hologram as a new 3D display. This hologram is Fresnel type hologram. Also, this display show a three dimensional animation to all circumferences. However, since this hologram is Fresnel type hologram and a transmission type hologram, the reconstructed image is single color, and obtaining full-color object is difficult. Therefore, by using the rainbow hologram, we achieve an animated computer-generated cylindrical rainbow hologram (ACGCRH) which can be observed full color three dimensional animation.

Generally 3D cameras have a parallax distance 65mm. Our eyes and brain are tired by the emphasised three-dimensional images.. My simple idea (in 1982, in Sony corp.) was using one Betamovie camera on the running train along the Rhein river.. We have promoted simple 3D home movie for the first stage of sony Handycam. We could get 3D view on the normal TV set, using one gray filter sunglass on one own eye. Every home video cameras are available to shoot 3D stereoscopic images shooting by moving camera method. The parallax is within 2 field running images Natural 3D images. Even if without 3D glasses, we have not double ghost right and left images but normal 2D. 2D-3D compatible. Easy operation as a home video camera.

Engraving style image was made with the outline formed through high-pass filter and the tones obtained from some Durer's copperplate engravings. Our images consist of two components; contour and shading, and the production procedure is started with reduction of noise, contour formation, and application of the tone according to the density.

Hologram image is so realistic that various images can be spread out in three-dimensional space even though it is illusion. The main subject of this paper is to shift color of the reconstructed image by pre-swelling emulsion processing in order to change the impression of the image or to make pseudo-color hologram.

Do you know the movie "Power of Ten"? It starts from the picture of a picknicking family the focus of the camera gets far away, goes through sky, and reaches the cosmos. On the other hand, it enlarges the family and gets to the microscopic world. I think that, using a film having high resolving power, I can take such pictures as you want to observe from the whole to the detail as the movie is projected.

We have been studying the next generation of video creation solution based on TVML (TV program Making Language) technology. TVML has a long history proposed back in 1996 by NHK, however, the only available Player has been the one made by NHK for years. We have developed a new TVML Player from scratch and named it T2V (Text-To-Vision) Player. Due to the development from scratch, the code is compact, light and fast, and extendable and portable. Moreover, the new T2V Player performs not only a playback of TVML script but also a Text-To-Vision conversion from input plane text to video by using FIL (Flexible Interpretation Loader) that can be added as a plug-in of the Player.

We previously proposed the method of generating free viewpoint images without any depth estimation. The method realizes robust image reconstruction by applying a certain 3-D filter to the sequence. Then, we also proposed effective image reconstruction by integrating the 3-D sequence into a single 2-D image and applying a 2-D filter to the image. In this paper, we discuss more high-speed image reconstruction by the Cell/B.E. that is reasonable and gains high performance for media processing. We show some experimental results by using real images and we discuss the possibility of real-time free viewpoint image reconstruction.

Facial impressions sometimes change when one's personality is understood in more depth. This study is aiming to analyze how to recognize facial expressions as shapes, and to suggest a computational addition method of facial impressions. First, we used PCA to feature points of faces, and reduce shape data sets to lower dimensions. Secondly, we asked subjects to recreate facial impressions by controlling principal component scores, and analysis a relationship between the scores and the impressions. Finally, we set facial impression axes, and propose a method for adding impressions to an input face shape.

Sea description techniques using a CG animation have been remarkably improved, so that they are applied in many motion pictures and various entertainment contents in these days. On the other hands, too much effort of an expert creator is needed to describe the photo-realistic sea using these techniques which employ the fluid simulation method. In this paper a sea description method using a non-photo CG is proposed. A human recognition mechanism of the sea is considered in the study. In an experimental development of this animation, a composed picture of 2D, 3D and live motion is realized. New possibilities of the sea description in the 3D animation without a fluid simulation and the method to reduce the time required for rendering is also studied.

Three women working at the club in Ginza have their own light and darkness in their past, future, or at the present. Though their occupation is peculiar, we can see the universal theme in their life. In this movie we expressed their changing feelings by the various set, scene, and camera work. D.I. processing made this expression better.
