In program production in NHK, we use professional cameras of different makers together. Moreover we sometimes use cameras for consumer use because of increasing video quality. When we adjust the tone of color of the above different cameras, it is difficult to adjust the same tone by tuning only Whitebalance, Blackbalance, Gamma. We have developed Color MTX Corrector Unit for camera System with Sugawa Video Engineering co., Ltd. This unit enables different cameras to adjust the same tone of color by correcting color reproducibility with color matrix circuit.

We have studied an optical interface for Super Hi-Vision (SHV) production systems. In this study, we developed an optical interface which could connect full-resolution Super Hi-Vision production equipment by an optical fiber. The full-resolution SHV signal composed of eight 10G-SDIs was connected by the dense wavelength division multiplexing technology. It turned out that this interface conformed to the bit-error rate specifications of SMPTE 435 by a connection experiment.

We made a prototype of transmission device which can put FPU-receiving RF signal up to 11GHz directly into optical fiber and using the device on a trial basis. If the device will be put to practical use, FPU base station system can be simplified, become easy to maintain them and lead to effective use of FPU receiver because head and cont units of FPU receiver can be placed in the operation center. As a result of experiment, the device can be of good use within about 15km. In this paper, we describe the design of experiment system, result of experiments and future prospects.

In mobile systems modulated by OFDM, the reception performance is deteriorated, because the inter-carrier interference (ICI) is happend by Doppler-spread. In this paper, Zero-Forcing ICI canceller is investigated. The proposed ICI canceller can be achieved to lower calculation loads than conventionl scheme.

The performance of OFDM is improved by pre-coding data symbols on the frequency domain. However, it is not desirable that additive noise on the specific carrier whose signal-to-noise ratio is very low may degrade system performance. An iterative detection of Pre-coded OFDM has alredy been proposed to overcome this problem. In this paper, theoretical analysis of detection of pre-coded OFDM is performed in order to achieve optimal detection. As the result of analysis, some condition that achieve better performance is derived.

In OFDM transmission, performance is degraded by the existence of time domain impulse noise because this noise has very wide bandwidth and it affects all the carriers in the OFDM symbol. Moreover, transmission characteristic is extremely degraded under multi-path channel. In this paper, the scheme that reduces the influence of impulse noise under multi-path channels is proposed. In the proposed scheme, replica signal of the impulse noise is used. In the receiver, amplitude, phase, and time position of the impulse noise are estimated and the replica signal of the impulse noise is generated using the estimated parameters. By subtracting the replica signal from the received signal, the additive impulse noise can be reduced.

In recent years, the embedded systems have so many functions that it takes much time to develop the software on them. Specially, user interface applications should be customized for each product, so it's more difficult to reuse them than middleware. The general model based development tools have the function to generate the source code from both screen layout and screen transition automatically. But the interaction between user interface applications and middleware should be made by hands. In order to resolve this problem, we have developed the user interface development tool "Gaudi" with the user interface widgets, which include the interaction between user interface applications and middleware.

In Japan, digital terrestrial television broadcasting based on OFDM is rapidly diffusing. One segment broadcasting ISDB-T has launched for mobile reception of digital television broadcasting and various services are expected. This paper discuss the cooperative reception scheme of digital TV broadcasting. The received signal after the symbol decision is exchanged between terminals and reception process is returned by using exchanged information. The optimum weight is derived from the noise distribution of exchanged signal for the maximum ratio combining.

The Japanese digital terrestrial broadcasting (ISDB-T) has special carriers called Auxiliary Channel (AC) in addition to the main signals for video and audio. The AC have beneficial features to transmit an Earthquake Early Warning (EEW). AC can be transmitted in a short delay time because the source coding for video and audio information compression and the channel coding such as time interleaving are not used. The transmission of AC is strong against the interference such as noise and fading because DBPSK modulation is used. This paper describes the results of examination about reducing transmission delay time and power consumption of a receiver on standby for EEW broadcast system using AC.

An Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) is a service of Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), which issues the advance warning of a large-scale earthquake before the arrival of its main tremor when it occurs. The service is based on the prompt estimation of the focus and magnitude of the earthquake by analyzing its initial tremor observed near the epicenter. NHK has been automatically broadcasting JMA's EEW on television and radio programs as soon as it is issued. The Japanese digital terrestrial television broadcasting system has special carriers called Auxiliary Channel (AC) besides the main signals of video, audio and so on. ACs have advantageous characteristics to be used for the broadcast of an EEW: short delay transmission without any data compression coding such as video or audio information and channel coding such as data interleaving during transmission; robustness against noise and interference due to the use of DBPSK modulation. We studied a transmission of ACs in One-Seg to carry the information of an EEW. The results showed the promising good transmission characteristics under noise and fading environments.

We developed one-segment broadcasting re-transmission system for community antenna television in rural area where the digital terrestrial broadcasting wave cannot be received. This system reconverts the frequency of digital terrestrial broadcasting signals transmitted in the community antenna television facilities from MID band to UHF band so that one-segment broadcasting mobile receivers can receive them radiated from multiple transmitters. This paper describes the results of field trial at the community antenna television facilities in Fukushima.

It is necessary to establish the evaluation technology for the effect of SFN-GF for the digital terrestrial television broadcasting. We study about the cover area formation method of SFN-GF. And, the formation method to cover everything from the near place to the far place efficiently is use combination antenna. The result of the SFN-GF experiment of cover area formation using main antenna and sub antenna is shown.

An application of SFN-GF (Single Frequency Network - Gap Filler) is expected for the improvement of the poor reception of the digital terrestrial television broadcasting. In SFN-GF system design, it is important to evaluate reception characteristic degraded by multipath. In this paper, arrival angle and route distances of multipath are analyzed by recording reception signal each arrival angles on the field. This report shows propagation route and estimate of reflection point of multipath.

An experimental result of wireless propagation in the urban area was reported. Some analysis results by the ray trace method are reported. However, these results are different from the experimental ones at the frequencies of digital terrestrial broadcasting. In this paper, we consider numerically a urban microcell wireless propagation at the frequencies of digital terrestrial broadcasting by using the FDTD method.

The received signal strength indicator (RSSI) is used to estimate locations of sensor nodes in the wireless sensor networks such as ZigBee based on IEEE802.15.4. The location estimation method requires a prior knowledge of the network environment and the investigation of the RSSI maps. Since it is difficult to characterize propagation environments experimentally, stochastic methods related to the wave propagation were proposed until now. The paper proposes a new approach to investigate wave propagation parameters of the sensor field using the computer simulations based on the computational electromagnetics. The analysis method employs the finite-difference time-domain technique and gives us pretty good results of indoor propagation characteristic. Its reliability and effectiveness are shown for the ZigBee sensor network by comparing the calculated RSSIs with the measured ones.
