A 1Mpixel CMOS image sensor with column-parallel folding-integration and cyclic ADCs has 80μV_<rms> (1.2e^-) temporal noise, 82dB dynamic range using 64 samplings in the folding-integration ADC mode. Very high variable gray-scale resolution of 13b through 19b is attained by changing the number of samplings of pixel outputs.

A 16M pixel APS-C format CMOS Image sensor with 14bit successive approximation (SA)-ADC and 8-lane Sub_LVDS output has been fabricated and characterized. A 4.78μm dynamic response pixel with ring gate transistors provides 62% QE, responsivity of 49.5Ke^-/lux-s and dark current of 17e^-/s at 60℃. Readout noise floor and column FPN are 2.2e^- and 0.11e^-_<rms>, respectively, in its high conversion mode.

We have developed a diagonal 27.5mm 17.7M pixel 120frames/s CMOS image sensor with 34.8Gb/s readout. This sensor adopted new column counters for single-slope ADC that operate up to 2.376GHz and high-speed interface with embedded clock that achieves 2.376Gb/s per channel. Random noise is 2.75e-rms at 120frames/s. The dynamic range at 120frames/s reaches 77.6dB.

A 202×205mm^2, CMOS image sensor is fabricated on 300mm wafer in 0.25μm 1P3M CMOS process. This sensor has 1.6M pixels, a programmable in pixel voltage amplifier, a differential readout circuitry on the column signal path. As a result, this sensor enables the low-noise and high sensitivity. In this paper, we describe the specifications and performance of the wafer-size CMOS image sensor.

In 2010, we developed a BSI image sensor capable of capturing images at 16Mfps. A preliminary evaluation result of the sensor is summarized. A concept of a next generation ultra-high-speed image sensor is also presented, which has a new function, image signal accumulation, in addition to the ultra-high-speed and the ultra-high-sensitivity.
