Since the mobile multimedia broadcasting in the VHF-Low band has the narrow band and the long wavelength, the electric field strength change by fading becomes slow and long burst error occurs. Then, diffusion of the error by time-interleave is very effective. In this report, we studied on the relation between the time-interleave length and the erroneous second ratio (ESR) in the mobile reception environment. As a result of the laboratory experiment and the field test, it was shown that the required electric field strength of 1dB was improved at ESR5, if time-interleave was lengthened from I=4 to I=8 at the speed of 50km/h or less. Moreover, it was shown that the ESR improved 20% in the area near to the fringe.

In V-Low mobile multimedia broadcasting, file-casting content service by data carousel transmission method is discussed. Past studies had clarified relationship between the successful receiving probability of the file-casting contents and the number of broadcast repetition for the same content, and the size of DDB under mobile environment. However these studies had been performed by file size of 2MB. Then firstly, we clarified the relation between the size of DDB and the successful receiving probability of the file-casting contents using the various file sizes. Secondly, we clarified the DDB size which enables the most efficient accumulation of file-casting contents.

This paper describes a research of reception DTTB on a Helicopter in Kanto Area. It is necessary to check OA video by DTTB in case of the outside broadcasting in the air. We measured Spectrum, signal level, C/N of receiving wave with data logging and specified the transmitting station which is received. Furthermore, we research about Delay-profile and I-Q Constellation during flight at urban city, suburbs and mountains. In this flight test, we also measured receiving level and C/N of AC signal transmitting from Tokyo Tower to study about low-delay-transmission for the helicopter.

The boom of 3D in cinema world is now influencing TV and game worlds. 3DTV sets and game machines with 3D functions are now becoming available. Some pay TV channels also started 3D programs. On the other hand, it has been discussed on eye strain while viewing 3D video. In this paper, human factors on stereoscopic 3D image such as eye strain, visual comfort, and naturalness will be discussed mainly based on results of evaluation experiments executed so far in NHK Science and Technology Research Laboratories. It is also discussed how these results may change according to viewing conditions and parameters. From these discussions, principles for comfortable viewing for stereoscopic 3D image will be introduced.

The broadcasting frequencies range from medium wave to SHF (Super High Frequency). In this paper the evolutions and history of broadcasting antenna technologies are surveyed mainly on terrestrial and satellite broadcasting. About the broadcasting satellite antennas on which the author has been involved in the research, shaped beam antennas using multi-horn fed and shaped reflector technologies, and re-shapable beam antennas using array-fed reflector technologies are described as well as the future study items.

RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) system is one of the devices which perform logistics or individual authentication. Recently, this system has been developed to be used in various scenes. This study presents an RFID tag embedded in the paper diaper to detect patient' urination as soon as possible. In this report, we designed and analyzed the antenna which can match IC (Integrated Circuit) Chip and measured the impedance and radiation pattern of antenna to compare with the analyzed results. The results show that urination considerably changes the antenna characteristics and that this system can be used to detect the urination.

This paper it was the simple structure in order to solve the problem, and the diameter was small, and the miniaturization was possible, and again, it developed ring loop antenna for the terrestrial digital broadcasting of which good VSWR characteristics over all bands in the use frequency band was obtained. Frequency characteristics are almost often equal on electric field and magnetic field plane for the loop antenna that the circumference length arranged loop antenna element of the about one wavelength multi-bay and that it parallel fed electricity for both directionalities and impedance characteristic, and the half-power angle becomes about 80 degrees. This antenna designed in order to match the coaxial cable of 50Ω, shows 39.7% (1.65 times) and wide-band characteristics, if the frequency band of VSWR=2 or less is under 49.2% (1.49 times) and under 1.2 almost.

We study on the transmission antennas to achieve more stable transmission of 700MHz band FPU used in the road race live broadcast. Considering the locations of the course and receiver base stations, we have already evaluated an array antenna for the transmitter to create a narrow beam configuration by the computer simulations. We mounted this antennas on the mobile relay vehicles, used them in Zenkoku Koukou Ekiden (61st All Japan High School Ekiden) as well as Zenkoku Joshi Ekiden (29th All Japan Inter-Prefectural Women's Ekiden). We confirmed the stability of video transmissions by analyzing and evaluating the propagation data.

This paper describes the method of ISDB-T spectrum sensing based on periodicity of scattered pilot for detection of ISDB-T signal which would be used for White Space. To detect the signal which signal power is smaller than the electric power of the thermal and external noise, we propose a technique for detecting such a small level signal adding the SP signal synchronously which is periodically transmitted. We developed an experimental device and evaluated the performance of this method.

We are developing a next-generation terrestrial broadcasting transmission system for handheld and mobile reception to transmit HDTV service and examine to use two transmission antennas and two receiving antennas (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output: MIMO). In the case of MIMO system, channel responses from each transmission antenna are needed to be estimated. This paper describes the computer simulation results of reception performance on dynamic environments using Walsh code scattered pilot. Comparing the MISO system and the MIMO system, the required C/N are improved 4dB, and use the turbo code, and moreover, the required C/N are improved 3dB.
