We have been developing an integral three-dimensional television that enables a viewer to see three-dimensional images without special glasses. To enhance the quality of the integral three-dimensional images, a display device that has a lot of pixels is required. However, there is no display device that has more pixels than that of an 8K Super Hi-Vision, so it is difficult to improve the quality of three-dimensional images by using a single display device. Therefore, we have enhanced the quality of the integral three-dimensional images by combining the images of multiple 8K LCD panels with magnifying optical systems and displaying the images with more pixels than that of one LCD panel.

We have proposed "Multi-image Arc 3D display" which can change various 3D images by using a projector. We clarified that proposed method provides the same perceived depth as conventional one. In elliptical scratches, perceived depth is determined by local curvature of scratches.

We have proposed a new arc DFD display by the fusion of DFD display and arc 3D display. In this new arc DFD display, perceived depth change can be successfully obtained by changing luminance ratio of edge image. Perceived depth change can be also successfully obtained with the viewing-position vertical shift of 12 cm. This indicates that arc DFD display has the wide viewing zone in the vertical direction over 5.7 degrees.

It has been a long time since the collaboration of each field of expertise including art, technology and education and the importance of such collaboration were recognized. What can various visualization techniques and the concept of usability contribute to in this composite region? This research is a trial to discuss how the sight of mathematics and physics can be expanded by technologies and viewpoint of high-dimensional graphics from the standpoint of creators through media production by taking visualization of elementary complex functions as an example. It will also be discussed as an application example of 3D printers.

We are researching to find the proper video coding techniques for integral 3D images to obtain a more efficient compression performance. First, we studied the coded image quality of an integral 3D image using a conventional video coding such as HEVC. Second, we examined the quality of an integral 3D image coded using multi-view video coding such as MV-HEVC or 3D-HEVC, the elemental images were converted into multi-view images. Final, we proposed the method for changing the size of the elemental image based on an integer multiple before converting it into multi-view images and showed that the proposed method enhanced the efficient compression performance.
