Some 900 cases of benchmark calculations on criticality problem for experimental systems have been made with KENO-IV Monte Carlo code using MGCL cross section data library in order to assess their reliability.
Since these experiments simulate various nuclear fuel cycle facilities, the calculated keff's have been proved to have wide range of bias errors. The calculation results have been analyzed to classify the experimental systems so as to make the variance of calculated keff bias as small as possible in each classified system.
The trends of bias are identified and illustrated to be optimumly expressed by a multiple variable regression equation with several variables which have adequate correlation with the bias value of calculated k
eff.
The uncertainties accompanied by bias correction for calculated k
eff is clearly determined, and the margin set aside for the experimental error is assessed. Finally a proedure is proposed to estimate nuclear criticality safety on the given problems.
