    中性子ラジオグラフィの技術は最近,国内外で108ncm-2・s-1の冷・熱中性子ビームを利用できるようになり,新しい画像取得治具が開発され,さらに画像取得技術と取得画像の高度な処理技術も各段に進歩した結果,単に非破壊検査技術の一つであることにとどまらず,様々な計測性能を備えている新しい技術として見直されるようになってきた。
    本稿では,国内外の研究状況を,過去ほぼ15年間について概説する。現在定式化している撮像方式を紹介した後,装置の基本性能を決定する諸因子についてその現状を述べ,さらに新しい画像の取得方式,および取得画像の処理の現状と関連する諸問題の基礎的な部分を概説する。

    Depth distributions of some kinds of underground structure in Japan have been investigated to get an information about suitable depth of underground repository for TRU waste that is arising from reprocessing and MOX fuel fabrication plants. The underground structures investigated in this work were foundation pile of multistoried building, that of elevated expressway, that of JR shinkansen railway, tunnel of subway and wells. The major depth distribution of the underground structures except for the wells was in range from 30 to 50m, and their maximum depth was less than 100m. On the other hand, the 99% of wells was less than 300m in depth. Maximum depth of the other underground structures has been also investigated for a survey of the utilization of underground by artificial structures in Japan.

    This is a Japanese translation of the report by International Nuclear Societies Council's Committee on Vision for the Second Fifty Years of Nuclear Energy.
    On the basis of the achievements and experiences of nuclear development and utilization over the past half century, the issues and direction of long-term global utilization of nuclear science and technology in the upcoming half century are analyzed. The report predicts the use of nuclear science and technology for the production of large quantities of energy -nuclear power- and other applications of nuclear energy such as nuclear radiation.
    The scope of the study covers the following aspects:
    · Wealth, Energy and the Quality of Life, · Energy Availability, · Status of Nuclear Power Utilization
    · Electricity and Nuclear Power in the Future, · Reactor and Fuel Cycle Strategies for the Future
    · Public Perception of Nuclear Power, · Institutional, Social and International Strategies
    · Other Applications of Nuclear Science and Technology, · Future Use of Radiation and Radioactive Sources
    To make a clear separation of the issues involved, the report has been divided into two parts: the VISION of the next 50-years of nuclear science and technology, and STRATEGIES that could be followed to achieve the vision.

    In 1989 and 1991, the Japanese first and second campaigns of full system decontamination were performed successfully in each loop of two independent core cooling systems of FUGEN as an operating nuclear power station. Dilute chelate reagent, Kuridecon-203 (KD-203) was used in 0.1% from 0.05% for the decontaminations at 120°C for 24h. "Purifying decontamination" method, in which injection of reagent and purification of decontaminant are carried out simultaneously, was applied to control KD-203 concentration low and to restrain dose rate of the system during the deconaminations. 6.6 and 7.8 man-Sv were saved and 7 to 8 TBq of 60Co were removed through the decontaminations. No negative influence for materials composed of the cooling circuits was observed in the visual inspection and in-situ materials tests carried out during the decontaminations. There is no incident derived from the campaigns for more than five year's operation. Dose rate of the primary cooling system has not reached to the pre-decontamination level yet after four year's operation.

    We have proposed Axial Offsets (AO) Trajectory Method for xenon oscillation control in pressurized water reactors. The features of this method are described as such that it can clearly give necessary control operations to eliminate xenon oscillations. It is expected that using the features automatic control logics for xenon oscillations can be simple and be realized easily. We investigated automatic control logics.
    The AO Trajectory Method could realize a very simple logic only for eliminating xenon oscillations. However it was necessary to give another considerations to eliminate the xenon oscillation with a given axial power distribution. The other control logic based on the modern control theory was also studied for comparison of the control performance of the new control logic. As the results, it is presented that the automatic control logics based on the AO Trajectory Method are very simple and effective.

    One of the characteristics of the cask storage method of spent fuel is that containment of radioactive materials is assured by the storage cask itself. Thus, the seal structure of the cask is designed to have a highly reliable multi-barrier system using metallic gaskets instead of the conventional rubber gaskets. Although, it has been reported that the containment feature of the metallic gaskets is influenced by the plastic deformation and stress relaxation of the gaskets for a short-term usage, no research report has been pulblished on the containment feature of the metallic gaskets for a long-term usage.
    In this paper, the stress relaxation features of the metallic gaskets is investigated which will directly influence the long-term sealability of the storage cask, at first. Next, the relationship between the temperature/time dependence of the plastic deformation and the containment features of the metallic gaskets. Finally, an evaluation method of the long-term sealability from experimental data of a short-term behavior of the metallic gaskets is proposed.
