    日本原子力研究所における研修事業も,東京の駒込で昭和33年に開始して以来,本年(平成10年) 1月で40周年を迎えた。この間,国内の研究者,技術者の養成,国の指定講習機関としての資格取得講習,一般市民教育,国際協力研修などを行い, 4万人を超える研修修了者を送り出してきた。この間,原子力産業は成熟期を迎えるなど,原子力を取り巻く状況は当時の状況から大きく変化している。
    そこで,今後の日本における研修のあり方を考えるため,研修所の歴史をたどるとともに,近年の活動状況および今後の展開について紹介する。

    Differences of subcriticalities evaluated with exponential experiment and Monte Carlo calculation are about 1% for twelve square and non-square array cores at the JAERI TCA. Experimental error except for error caused effective delayed neutron fraction (βeff) was deduced to about 1% on considerations for correlation of detector neutron source and rejection of data including higher order mode in analysis. For more reduction of the error, it is necessary to deduce the error (5%) of βeff that is dominant factor for the error. Correlation equation of buckling-reactivity conversion factor for square array cores is applicable to non-square array cores.

    A numerical analysis has been performed for fully developed turbulent flow in a rectangular duct with smooth and rough walls by using algebraic Reynolds stress model. The wall functions and the universal law of the wall, which are used as the boundary conditions of turbulent energy and dissipation, apply in the present analysis instead of taking shape of roughness element into account. Therefore, the roughness enters through the log law relating the velocity at the first grid point away from the wall with the friction velocity. Two kinds of turbulent flows are examined, i.e., one is the turbulent flow in a rectangular duct with two roughened facing walls and the other is that flow in a rectangular duct with longitudinal ridges located lower and upper walls. These two kinds of calculated results are compared with experimental data each other. As for the comparison of rectangular duct with two roughened facing walls, the present calculated results show less distortion of streamwise velocity than the experimental data. This discrepancy may be attributable to assumption of the uniform roughness wall in calculation and separated flow observed in the experiment. On the other hand, calculated results of rectangular duct with ridges show a reasonable agreement in the streamwise velocity and the distributions of the Reynolds stresses. These examinations suggest the validity of the present method using the wall functions.

    A large amount of radioactive dusts are generated in fusion reactors as a result of sputtering and/or plasma disruption, and they adhere and deposit in the vacuum vessel. The condition in the vessel is in high vacuum of 10-4 Torr order as well as strong electromagnetic field. Once the vacuum condition is destroyed to collect the dusts, the vacuum pumping of the huge vessel requires at least several days or a week. Therefore, it is necessary for an economical operation to collect the dusts without destroying the vacuum. In this research, a dust collecting system that makes use of thermophoresis phenomenon known as a rarefaction effect of gas is proposed and its experimental verification is performed to examine its possibility. The system is very simple, namely, temperature gradient is made by setting a low temperature plate close to another high temperature wall on which the dusts are deposited and the dusts are recovered onto the low temperature plate by the thermophoresis phenomenon. It has been found that, in principle, it is possible to collect the radioactive dusts by weakening adhesive force which acts on the dusts and raising temperature gradient enough.
