Types of hazards, groups of people to be considered and the basic dose effect relation to evaluate the size of hazards are mentioned at the beginning.
As the methods of disposal permissible at present, two ways are mentioned. One is the high radioactive material kept in unbreakable container can be disposed to the bottom of some depth. The other is the diluted low level waste which can be continuously poured into some area where dilution is going on continuously. Any other means other than these two, for example a bay where insufficient exchange of water occurs and where the surface water is usually productive, is not suitable for disposal.
The concentration factor obtained both by rearing experiment using tracers and by chemical analysis of the stable element in sea water and organisms, differs greatly according to the radio-nuclide and the taxonomical position of the organisms. The rate of uptake differs depending on the chemical form, radio-nuclide, temperature of sea water, growth stage and the kind of organism.
Ways to evaluate Maximum Permissible Concentration of sea water was described.
Three steps of food chain, radio-isotope concentration in sea water, index organisms, and marine food products on the market should be monitored constantly. For this purpose proposal of International Index Organisms have been done.
A table of concentration factors determined is attached.
