Skills training and clinical practice are indispensable to learning Interprofessional Work(IPW). In Interprofessional Education(IPE) this learning is done in interprofessional groups of students. In order to develop an educational program for such study, it is desirable that concrete understanding of the current state of IPW at clinical practice facilities be gained. For the objective of ascertaining the current situation and problems of IPW at clinical practice sites, the present research has selected three facilities and performed a survey analysis on 400 health care providers that belong to these facilities. As a result, it has been revealed that most respondents were not familiar with the technical terms of IPE and IPW. The analysis revealed differences of the kind of patients considered for clinical practice and occupations of supervisors. While for the respondents the many advantages to cooperative work outweighed the disadvantages, some respondents expressed concerns regarding work efficiency and responding to the needs of patients. Finally the results suggest that explanation of one’s own profession and explanation of others’ professions may be insufficient. The results emphasized the need for the familiarity of IPE and IPW and mutual understanding between professions.

Objective:In the fields of healthcare and welfare, cooperation between professions is essential for enhancing the QOL(Quality of life)of recipients of services and care. The present study aimed to elucidate whether learning about methods of cooperation and collaboration resulted in changes in awareness of the new perspective of a “team approach” among university students, and to determine the appropriateness of the objective and methods of the present seminar. Methods: University and graduate school students aiming to become doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, registered dietitians, fitness instructors, pharmacists, dental hygienists, certified social workers, psychiatric social workers, or psychological counselors at one of five universities and two junior colleges in N Prefecture (in the case of medical school students, they are from other prefectures) gathered to learn the team approach method through interactions with actual patients and care recipients. Results: As a result of learning about multiprofessional cooperation and collaboration, awareness of the significance and importance of the team approach among university students increased significantly following participation in the present seminar.
