As the nursing educaion is associated with qualifying examination, the evaluation of the achievement level is one of the most important tasks when curriculum is put into practice. However, evaluating the achievement level in the clinical nusing practice, in fact, seems to be carried out with quite uncertain method. This is due to a feature of the nursing including various disciplines, difficulty of establishing evaluation criteria, and differrent recognition of the goals among instructors.

The purpose of this study was to find out problems of the present methods to evaluate the achievement level and identify the causative factors in order to develop a format for evaluation of the achievement level more effectively.

At first, I identified educational terms related to evaluation of the achievement level, meanwhile, I reviewed how these terms were actually interpreted among instructors. Then, with comparing the differences between identified concepts and instructors' interpretation of the terms, I discussed the causitive factors of the present problems. Considering the factors above mentioned, I proposed that:

1)the method to evaluate the goals to be developed (achieved),

2)evaluation criteria established with verious points of view,

    3)definition between formative evaluat10n and comprehensive evaluat10n,

4)the method to evaluate the learners'behaviour,

5)the application of the multidimensional evaluation criteria.

In order to clarify the relationship among feeling of nursing students for their mental and physical health states, life style, and mental/social study factors, an investigation was carried out through a questionnaire.

The questionnaire was set out 122 students of first-third year class in the Junior College of Nursing.

The results were summarized as follows:

    1. Fairly many students of third year class, the eldest year class, were in unfavorable conditions of mental and physical health states and also in that of burnout state. On the contrary, the second year class students were in good conditions in all of health state.

    2. As for life style, students who had undesirable habits in daily life were most in number in the third year class. However, about the mental/physical study factors the numbers of students who negatively replied to the questionnaire were most in the first year class.

    3. Mental and physical health states and burnout state were related each other, and with the progress of burnout state the percentage of students who complained about melan cholia, sleep disturbance and uncomfortable feeling for their health state increased. However, any relation was not found between burnout state and appetite which reflect their health state.

    4. Number of students who had undesirable habits in daily life was larger in unhealthy feeling group which was consisted from the students who complained about melancholia or bad conditions of health state, or were in burnout stage Ⅲ than that of healthy feeling group. At the same time many students in unhealthy feeling group replied positively to the questions mental/social study factors. Especially, the number of students who had sleeping hours less than 6 hours and no interest in nursing practice was significantly large in this group.
