Objective:To develop a reflection-oriented conference learning index for use at the visiting nursing station.

Method:Extract learning index items in an exploratory factor way from the content of interviews and discussions at conferences, and use them to draft an index for conducting a survey on the work performed by visiting nurses. The survey data will be used to verify the reliability and validity of the learning index.

Results:We drafted a learning index consisting of question items comprising 2 factors and 20 items. The extracted factors were: Factor 1 - Alleviating concerns during the conference; Factor 2 – Noticing concerns before the conference. We confirmed a correlation of the index with the reflection self-assessment scale.

Conclusion:Reflection is facilitated by sharing the factors of “noticing concerns” connected with the issues that visiting nurses should be aware of , and “alleviating concerns” later on at the conference. It is expected that such reflection will assist the next group of visiting nurses in resolving those issues, and help improve their individual performance.
