In these days, a new style education is tried to do for the linkage between classroom learning and its practice in the adult education. In this paper, we propose a methodology for the project-based education what we developed to improve the learning effect of the new style education, and then discuss the efficacy. The instructor encourages students' practice process by using the methodology and makes students to use the practice method based soft system approach. Each student involves another office member to the process, and the learning level is exactly up from personal learning to organizational learning. Also, it works to level up the sense of the office members to the problem solving in their workplace.

The discussion about the Ubiquitous Society became popular and many trial experiments for traceability using IC Tag technology appeared. However, the practical realization is not reached. On the other hand, in US and EU the practical realization started by the big sales companies like WalMart. Why does this difference happen ? The paper analizes this situation from the viewpoint of masscustomization and shows that several business models may exist.

Societies of Commerce and Industry (SCIs) are regional economic organizations of small-scaled business proprietors. We have been diagnosing information systems of each prefectural federation of SCIs (PF-SCI), which is the central organization of SCIs in each prefecture, and pointing problems and recommending some remedies. We have finished 22 PF-SCIs by now. Our viewpoints of diagnoses are system configuration, operation management organization, applications, and information security. By adding characteristic data of each PF-SCI to system diagnostic results, and performing multivariable analyses, we found clusters within the PF-SCI systems. Here, we present an interim report on our methodology and multi-variable-analysis results.

We propose a method of reducing credit collection cost in retail finance by credit assessment models. For a construction of credit assessment models,we use decision tree, regression tree, linear regression, neural networks, and hybrid models by those combination. The error rate of these models is not accurate for the application to business in general. In the proposed method,we handle a number of credit of the similar character as a group.By changing the collection method for every group, the increase in the whole profits is brought about after all.

Many companies have been installing enterprise information systems using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) packages, nevertheless, some ERP implementations have ended in failure. Thus, many researchers and practitioners attempted to search and/or to identify the CSFs(Critical Success Factors) in ERP implementation projects to reduce the risk of implementation failure. However, they haven't elucidated the relation between the ERP implementation methodology and the success factors. The purposes of this study are (1)to review the CSFs in previous researches, and (2)to identify the "process" in the ERP implementation project which those CSFs contributes for the project success.

In the distribution industry and the service industry, where the commerce area is localized, business expansion is done by augmentation of shops or business points, often organizing a chain operation either within a firm or beyond a firm. One issue is the chain management task, often called franchising, which is in service marketing theory seen as the service delivery. Another issue is the delivery in electronic medium, seen as the distribution channel for services. So I review and discuss on the concepts of service product, delivery and distribution, referring to information technology and electronic medium. Then genuine distribution concept would be found in existing framework as to the indirect distribution.

Knowledge sharing is one form of knowledge management. Knowledge sharing in engineering design is often realized by electronizing end results. However, those results include only final decisions. It is difficult for users to understand the circumstances and design intentions. Communication involves contexts such as circumstances leading to a conclusion and design intentions, which play an important role in knowledge sharing. In this paper, we propose an approach to knowledge sharing, where the contexts help the users to understand the background of decision making. We developed a prototype, which integrates the contexts in communication into our product data management system. We report a result of our experiment, where we applied our prototype to an engineering design problem.

The AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), proposed by Saaty (1980), is one of decision making models which consists of three parts, namely, making hierarchy structure of the problem, evaluating local weights by pairwise comparison and evaluating the global weights by additional sum. An AHP has been widely used because it can deal with unquantifiable objects and its implementation is very easy. In this paper, we first introduce AHP methodology and then explain the geometric mean and the eigenvalue method, both of which are frequently used to derive local weights, and their mathematical background in detail.

In a huge community site (e.g. "Yahoo!"), it is thought that there is high correlation between the information on the real world and the information acquired in the site. Especially in the community site which has common interest or common concern participants, information in the virtual world and information in the real world are probably closely related. Therefore, it is possible to predict the short-term market expectation and a long-term trend about the related product (or service) by analyzing the logs in the community site. In this research, we analyze the information about a movie. We analyze the transition of the user evaluation on the electronic bulletin board and consider the relation between this information and the information on the real world.

Japanese research activity is very high in material/device domain, such as blue ray LED, CCD, PDP et al. On the contrary, in information processing system domain, Japanese competitiveness is rather weak. This paper compares research activities among material/device, equipment, and system domains to clarify the reason of weakness. The analysis shows 1) An "isolated system" is often developed in Japan, and 2) Detailed and fundamental discussions are avoided in Japanese business environment. Thus, for instance, a "training domain experts into software engineer" approach may be efficient for application system development.

This research will analyze the structure of transactions with a focus on the communications interfaces that lie between buyers and sellers. In the used car market in Japan in the 1990s, the emergence of the transaction intermediaries changed the structure of transactions. They function as enforcers, encoders, and decoders and that are deeply involved in the code structure of structured information. The hypothesis and main message of this research is that the main factor that influences the data conversion process is the communication interface, and that the control of that will become a new and important role in division-of-labor systems.

In order to utilize IT in management, the structures which promote self-investment of employees needs to be incorporated in a company organization. The impact on an organization tier, authority, and remuneration, performance evaluation, etc. were theoretically considered from the viewpoint of human-resources investment.
We developed an empirical study on "the efforts / self-investment for IT practical use" and a factor analysis. The result supports the theoretical conclusions in general. And it became clear that not only "decision-making process clarification", but also "management target", and "performance evaluations" are important for specific human capital.

The present condition is being unable to say that the optimization of a quality design which took both sides of a product and service into consideration about evaluating what product feature under what needs is made. We are anxious about this being the cause which the contents of decision-making by each section (the contents of a measure) stop at the partial optimal solution, and obstructs CS maximization. Then, in this research, the design quality range of a brand is extended to all marketing mix 4P, and the "brand QFD" towards the maximization of the degree of sufficiency to customer needs is proposed.

This paper studies an instance of price and quality competition between firms as seen in the recent Internet market. Characterizing this competition from a microeconomic viewpoint, we consider two possible business strategies that firms can utilize to overcome the competition - the differentiation and the vertical integration with another complementary firm. We show an interesting result not seen in the well-known Bertrand price competition: not only does the differentiation always increase the firms' profits, but also it can increase the consumer's welfare in a quality-sensitive market. We further derive that the monopolistic vertical integration that excludes the combination-purchase with a competitor's product is beneficial for both the integrated firm and its consumers.

As the results, it is clarified that people demand the safe life rather than the confortable life by developing the social infrastructure.
In addition, it become clear that the minimum necessary infrastructure is not even enough created in any cities according to the need-hierarchy theory (maslow,a. h.), because the tendency of people's needs is independent of the level of the social infrastructure improvement in each city where they live.

Resource dependence perspective is considered to be a major perspective for analyzing interorganizational relations(IOR), and the interorganizational coordination(IOC) has been analyzed mainly through this perspective. According to it, an IOR is supposed to be formed in order to acquire or utilize scarce resources from partners, and the method of coordination has been studied based on this premise. However, methods of coordination may be different in accordance with the purpose of forming IOR. This paper tries to study and classify the major perspectives on the IOR, such as resource-dependence, collective-strategy, institutional, transaction-cost, and population-ecology. In the field of imaginary experiment, there are many studies used marked data, ordered data, binomial data etc. Takahashi, Naruse, and Tahara proposed many analyses used the logistic regression analysis for binomial data. However, multinomial data has more information than binomial data. Thus there are many cases by multinomial data depends on the purpose of the imaginary experiment. In the case of binomial data, it isn't necessary to distinguish between nominal scale and ordered scale. However, in the case of multinomial data, it is necessary to distinguish two scales. This paper shows plural analyses for this case and discusses them systematically.
