A study about the aeroelasticity of the bridge was started in the field of Aeronautical engineering in USA and Great Britain, and examination for bridging in Japan started it afterwards from 1950's. The one of the characteristics of this field in Japan is to carry out a careful wind tunnel experiment. And a substantial study is performed by comparing it with the observation result with the real bridge. Although Japan has the world eminent results, a domestic project is made now at crossroads to come to a deadlock
This paper describes the historical biography of bridge aerodynamics in Japan, and prospects the technical applications for other structures.
