Carrion Crows (Corvus corone) and Jungle Crows (C. macrorhynchos) were banded from 1990 to 1993 at Ikeda and Nakashibetsu, eastern Hokkaido. Total bandings at Ikeda were 141 Carrion Crows and 106 Jungle Crows; and at Nakashibetsu were 75 Jungle Crows. Seven of the banded Carrion Crows and 11 Jungle Crows were recovered in Hokkaido. Average (±SE) movement distance was 80.3 (±12.7)km for Carrion Crows and 76.3 (±10.1)km for Jungle Crows, and average duration from release to recovery was 402.4 (±179.9) days for Carrion Crows and 142.5 (±49.2) days for Jungle Crows. Method of recovery was in gun-hunting incident (4 Carrion Crows and 3 Jungle Crows) and multitrap (3 Carrion Crows and 8 Jungle Crows). The estimated age at recovery was 0-4 year in Carrion Crows and 0-1 years in Jungle Crows. The percentage of age 0 year was higher in the Jungle Crow than in the Carrion Crow. Considering the spread-out distribution of recovery sites and the young age of the recovered crows, the movements of both species were interpreted as dispersal.
