907 Common Cormorants
Phalacrocorax carbo were banded with colored plastic bands to distinguish individuals in 5 colonies, from 1975 to August 1987. The movements of the cormorants were analyzed on the basis reports of color-banded cormorants.
Cormorants from two colonies were found. Cormorants from the Unoyama colony dispersed extensively. In the flock that moved to Hamana Lake, many banded young birds and a single banded adult bird were found. Three young cormorants which were born in Shinobazu Pond colony moved to a distance. One of these moved adout 200 km, and was found in the roost formed by the flock that moved from Unoyama colony.
