In this study, we conducted practical experiments and a comprehensive comparison of various aspects of the fundamental nursing technique known as foot baths, including their types and effects. As a result, we found that foot bathing methods have distinct branches in terms of manual techniques and equipment used, and these branches lead to different outcomes. Specifically, we categorized open-style foot baths as hygiene-maintaining, sealed-style foot baths as temperature-preserving, artificial carbonated baths as skin temperature-maintaining, and aromatherapy foot baths as relaxation-focused. Understanding these unique characteristics is essential for selecting the most suitable method for individual patients. Moreover, by adjusting the techniques and materials employed, the potential applications of foot baths can be expanded.
