We studied the clinical findings of juvenile polyp in the rectum and the colon in 40 cases, of which 8 cases we experienced and 32 cases collected from literature. The conclusions are as follws:
The disease is more frequently found in male younger than ten years of age. The common site of the occurence are the colon lower than the sigmoid. The main clinical symptoms are hemorrhage which is not so severe as to impair the general status of the host.
It has macroscopical and histological characteristics.
Macroscopically, most of them are small, round, pedunculated, elastically soft and solitary. Histologically, it shows dilated glandular canaliculi or cystic forms with copious interstices. The epithelium of glandular canaliculi does not show neoplastic appearance. For the treatment of the disease, we recommend endoscopic polypetomy.
