An experiment and calculation supporting system has been designed and implemented to accelerate problem-
based learning (PBL) in an effective way. Problem solving processes were analysed in PBL, and plan-do-see trials
were recognized to be essential processes, in which students can have the self-directed experience to solve problems. The system can support the trials by providing flexible functions for measurement and calculation. Students can conduct a measurement and calculation by making a flow in an arbitrary order, according to their intention to solve a given problem. The system can also support visualization of the measured or calculated numerical data in a graph format. This function help the students discuss the next trial or the final report by seeing the obtained results in any client machine over www. The functions were implemented for students learning electrical engineering so that this system can support the PBL in the fundamental fields of electrical engineering.
