Five cases of granululomatous lesions of the nose, observed at our clinic for past tweleve years, were examined autopsycally. Two of them had distant metastasis such as to the lung, kidney etc. One hundred and fourty-one cases, which chosen from the Japan Autopsy Records for the lastest thirteen years, were divided to the three groups, according to the autopsy diagnosis. Fifteen cases belong to reticulosarcoma type. Distant metastasis, such as to the lung, liver, kidney, were observed in 80% of them. Lymphnode metastasis to the cervical, paratracheal and retroperitoneal nodes were detected in 73%. Wegener's granuloma type, consists with 41 cases, had distant metastasis in 76%. However, it is the most prominent character that this group had no lymph node lesion except in two cases. Concerning malignant granuloma, the definition has been confused. Therefore it is con- sidered that the statistic observation of them has no reliable evidence. In general, both distant metastasis and lymph node metastasis are rare. As above mentioned, it is conclud- ed that so-called granulomatous lesions of the nose can be divided to three major groups from the standpoint of autopsy findings.
