The therapeutic effects of CEROCRAL fine granule (Ifenprodil tartrate) on the cases with peripheral vertigo as an open trial were studied. The cases were consisted of 13 cases of Meniere's disease, 6 cases of benign paroxysmal positioning vertigo and 1 case of labyrinth-syphilis. The results obtained were as follows.
1. The rate of general improvements were 65 % on subjective symptoms, 56 % on objective findings and as a whole, general improvements showed 65 % in the rate.
2. CEROCRAL was most effective for stopping fits of vertigo and disturbance of equilibrium. These rate of the efficacy were 65 % on the former and 100 % on the latter. On the other hand, there were little effects for the associated tinnitus and deafness.
3. There was an interesting case that showed a significant improvement of hearing.
4. As the side effect, a slight intestinal disorder was recognized in 1 case.
CEROCRAL fine granule was fairly effective on the cases with peripheral vertigo. The effects of CEROCRAL fine granule were almost same to those of CEROCRAL tablets reported before.
