    The nuclear power generation which has almost finished its long preparatory period is coming near to practical use. In view of the fact that it is expanding more and more, a fundamental policy of steady procurement of uranium resources for the future should be urgently established. The author describes the current and future demand and supply of uranium fuel in Japan as well as in various countries, and emphasizes the necessity for the active exploration and development of domestic uranium resources together with the rapid undertakings of a programme of overseas resources proeurement

    Since the first nuclear power generation of 5 megawatt was Started at the Japen Atomic Energy Institute in October, 1963, its development work has been growing steadily as to be able to make a plam for the installation of a power station with a capacity of 600-700MW in the near future. It is anticipated that in ten years onethird of an increasing electricity will be shared by the nuclear power. It is estimated that cost of electricity produced will be 2 yen/kWh with a power station capacity of 600MW, which is well economically competitive with thermal (oil) power at that time in our country. The author further explains the principie of the nuclear power generation together with its safety problem. The present atomic industry in this country is greatly dependent on the techniques developed in foreign countries. However, in view of the fact that the nuclear power generation is coming near to practical use, the emphaseizes the home production of power plants as well as the development of new type reactors, especially fast reactors should be progressed enough to establish Japan's own nuclear industry.

    Corbonization of agricultural, forestry products wastes was carried out to develop its effectual utilization. Corbonization plant used in this study was, by forced draft is conical fluidization bed process, and capacity 2. 5t/D, wood dusts of about 10-20% moisture content was carbonization in shown as follows. Charcoal yield 25% (dry baee) main features of this equipment are as follows.
    1. This equipment can effectively utilize wastes of forestry and agricultural products, such as saw dust, Chipper wastes etc., powdered wastes materials and corbonize them.
    2. The equipment can be operated continuously, and the product is obitained in several minutes.
    3. The quality of the product is uniform, and can be regulated freely.
    4. By utilizing additional equipment, the calories of carbonization gas produced as a by-product can be effectively, gasliquids and wood tar can be recovered easily.

    This paper deals with the vast results of the overseas investigations divided into the following sevenitems: Background of public nuisance; regulations; power station showings;desulfurizationof fuels; SO2 removal from stack gases; smoke abatement, and waste water treatment. In each item, the author first explains the present status mainly in West Germany, France, Great Britain and U.S.A., and considers Japanese environment. He pointed out problems to be discussed on the future counterplan for the public nuisances in our country.

    Merits of forced draft combustion are high speed combustion and a possibility of acquisition of the compressed high temperature burnd gas.
    This time, the authers produced the forced draft combustion apparatus for town gas (Test pressure…till 1.5 kg/cm2 gauge) and confirmed utility of the apparatus.
    In this paper, we showed the heat loss Hl (kcal/hr) of the apparatus as a function of the burned gas temperature (t) and at the same time the data indispensable for calculation of the combustion press (P), the burned gas temperature (t) and the injection gas volume at the steady state.
    Finally, G (Gas volume)-t characteristics of the apparatus were examined, the empirical formula of heat efficiency η was as follows.
