To evaluate the availability of cement clinkers for the sulfur re-moval sorbent in fluidized bed coal fired utility boilers, a reactivity test for various kinds of clinkers with SO2 was made by use of the thermal gravimetric analysis at sulfation temperature of 10201270K, which was concluded in the following items.
1) The reactivity of high early strength cement clinkers was better than other types of portland cement clinkers.
2) The reactivity of the clinkers at around 1270K was limited by the blockage of inter-grain macropores with produced CaSO4.
3) It can be expected that operating temperature range of FBC is extended by using the mixed sorbent of limestone with cement clinker, and also a stable fluidized bed is established by clinker.
