In this peper, effects caused by a screen inserted in spherical photometer are described.
It is a general notion that the intensity of the diffused illumination (E
h) on the wall of a spherical photometer is constant. This could not always prove true, however, because of the existence of the screen.
The writer has established exact integral equations for the inte rreflectance for the sphere and the screen, and their approximate solutions have been obtained. As a result of theoretical and experimental examinations, solutions of these equations have been proved to be applicable to the cases where the ratio of the radius of the sphere to that of the screen is under 1/3. Consequently, it has been found that the position of the screen, where the value of Ek of the sphere window is maximum, does not agree with the one where the best flat distrib ution of Ek can be obtained.
