This parer relates to the simulation of operating circuits for the high pressure mercury discharge lamps. The circuit equations of operating circuits for the dischage lamps are given by using mathematical models in which the electrical parameters of the discharge lamps are expressed by the equivalent conductance as defind.
In the case of operating circuit consist of series resistor or resistor ballast, two mathematical models of the discharge lamps are discussed. Moreover, in the cases of operating circuits consist of series choke coil ballast and series coil-condencer balla st, various electrical characteristics such as eective values, efficiency, power factor, peak factor and apparent power in ballast elements are obtained more detail by this method. We have found that the simulation method using the equivalent conductance suitable for the analysis and design of operating circuits for the dischage lamps.
