Innumerable westerners arrived in Japan from the end of Edo era to the Meiji era. Many of them sailed through the Seto Inland Sea and admired the landscape of the Inland Sea. Many westerners admired the landscape from the points of modern landscape views since Siebold of 19th century, and bequeathed many descriptions of the admiration in the books such as travel accounts. The Japanese appreciated the landscape of the Seto Inland Sea with quotation from the admiration in the late Meiji era. The paper considers what landscape modern westerners admired, what special characters of landscape views were, what the change process was, and what the Japanese were influenced by in 19th century, through analyses of the these books such as travel accounts which showed descriptions related to the admiration of the Inland Sea landscape.
