Some citizen images of Takamatsu were investigated in three residential quarters (the farm, business, and living quarters) by the opinionaire method. 199 answers were obtained from the parents of three primary school students (man: 115, women: 84). The obtained results are as follows:
    1. On account of few city parks in Takamatsu, almost of citizens did not enjoy the recreation in the park. In three quarters, each purpose of this recreation were variable: in the farm, they enjoyed their recreations with their families; in the business, played with their children; in the living, enjoyed and played with their families or children.
    2. Almost of them imagined the comfortable Takamatsu city. However, they selected the green natural environment as the ideal residential area.
    3. The citizen demands for a kind of parks were the highest in the natural park. It was a noticeable problem that the great city park was not demanded by many people.
    4. By the development of the traffic network and the improvement of the transport facilities, the open spaces in Takmatsu has been tended to be enlarged. A course of a day's trip was concentrated on the radius 50km area of Takamatsu, and of several overnight trip was on eastern area of kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe.
    5. In order to let a city government of the open space planning enforce smoothly, many citizens agreeded with the control of their rights of private properties of the residential sections.

Pine seedlings, so called sun trees, do not perfectively under the shade circumstance in the landscape forest. In order to maintain the fine view of the pine forest, we must study how to regenerate these forests with pine seedlings. It is the most important problem that, in the landscape forest restricted the cuttings, we ascertaine the minimum density for the harmanious regeneration of these trees.
This investigation was performed to clearfy the successional form of the pine forest and estimate the above tree density having the regenerational possibility. The results obtained are as follows:
    1. In the seto-naikai seaside district, the pine forest has been shifting from pine to ubame-gashi (Quercus phillyraeoides A. Gray) via hi-sakaki (Eurya Japonica Thunb.) type.
    2. In inside district, it has been shifting from pine to sudajii (shiia Sieboldii Makino) via hi-sakaki type.
    3. These differences between sia-side and inside are seemed to be as a result of the influence of the water condition (including of a air humidity, water potential it the trees, and soil water).
    4. The most optimum density for pine regeneration was 400 trees/ha 600 trees/ha.

This study concerns with fundamental analysis of old Japanese landscape design.
Already, certain studies on this subjects were taken to research them in old Japanese literature, such as Koji-Ki, Nihon-Shoki or Manyo-Shu, about their descriptions of nature and ladscape.
As results, their execellent feelings on nature and ladscape were appointed.
Nevertheless, such studies to correct above knowledges by site research works, should be necessary.
This is the purpose of this study, named “Case Studies on Designs of Road Setting by Historical Old Japanese”.
In 1st century A. D. Japanese King's Government contacted 'Hang Empire, and was afforded Gold Stamp to rank Japan as a first class state of hers.
In these ages, Chinese civilizations were introduced do Japan, and her agricultural revolutions had great progress.
This revolution affected on Japanese political conditions to break her such big central government as to send hundreds officers to 'Hang Empire.
In 3rd century, Japanese had an agricultural society of Yabadai Queen's Kingdom.
In 4th century, Yamato-Chotei Government succeeded to coquer most of Japan islands, and storaged her force to occupy southern part of Xorean peninsula by her agricultural civilization.
This civilization had technical foundations of civil engineerings, such as constructions of the biggest tomb on the earth.
With these backgrounds, highway constructions inthese age had great progress.
Socially, central governmert needed radical highway network from her Capital to controll her people, wealth and military forces; and technically above network had posibility by her engineering ability.
After 7th century, this old network was changed by Jo-Ri system networks under policies of Taikano-Kaishin; but a little of them remains now, 20th century.
For examples, one is Utahime-Kaido connecting Asuka, Heijo, Tanabe, Yodo and Oinosaka (Otokuni), shown in Koji-Ki.
One is Kamitsu-Michi, connecting Asuka, Narazaka, Uji, Daigo and Ohsakayama, shown in Koji-Ki and Dan-Pi Uji,
One is Takeuchi-Kaido, connecting also Asuka, Taima, Furuichi and Sumiyoshi harbour.
Studying them, below results are understood in this research work to analyze Japanese landscape design feelings, in such old days as 6th or 7th century.
    1) Highway construction principles, mostly stands on natural topographical rules; so as to avold low wet land in old days, to choice narrow portions of rivers for crossings and so on.
    2) Under above principles, they show zigzag forms with vistas to ladmark hills.
    3) This tendecy of landmark consideration should affected on the construction of historic Japanese Capitals, Asuka-Kyo or Heian-Kyo, in their central axis Suzaku-Oji.
    4) Also we have this tendency in the case of Asian new city construction as Islamabad in Pakistan, with central landmark of Shakarparian Hill.

    1. In order to investigate the effect of the accate exposure of sulfur dioxide on flowering of osmanthus, this experimeut was dore. As a result, the leaves were injured intersively, but flowering of osmanthus was not affected.
    2. In 1970, the chronic effects of sulfur dioxide on flowering of osmonthas in Ichihara city were stadied. The flowering was damaged at seaside and alongside Yoro river regions. The flowering was relative to the concentration of sulfur dioxide in atmosphere.
    3. In this study, it was found that the flowering of osmanthus was chronically injured by sulfur dioxide of low concentration in atmosphere, also it can be considered that the flowering of osmanthns will be maked use of indicator of air pollution.

The Taj Mahal is surely one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in the world, but we should not overlook the garden that was once beautifully created by Shah Jahan for the memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal.
Compared with the original plan, the garden has changed through the ages, but if we observe the garden carefully, we can still recognize the original spacial design of the garden. The marble tank which is placed in the center of the garden especially breaks the simplicity of the large plain garden.
