    This study is to recognize the complicated structurization of many elements that relate to physical environment in which land use is contained. Open space is one of the most essential elements that relate to physical enviroment and land use.
    The recognition of the complicated structurization of many elements that relate to land use are very effective to organize the open spaces. Because, the situations of the land and people are supported by the complicated structurization which is composed of relations of many elements; physical, social, economical, political and so on. And the changes of complicated structurization affect to the total situations.
    In this study, the complicated structurization between land use (existing open space 1, existing open space 2, existing open spen space 3, urbanized area) and slope were discussed. On the process of this study, land use was recognized as the results of human behavior in the given space.
    There are so many tools to approach for this aim, but it was tried to understand the complicated structurization by mesh analysis. The process are as follows.
    (1) Selection of study area; the complicated structurization between land use and slope degree is in influenced by the area conditions. In the case of high density area it is necessary to develop into the hillside. One aim in this study was to recognize the limit of various kind of development on the sloped area, for this reason Osaka Prefecture was selected for study area, because of shortage of the flat space for the development.
    (2) Collection of data; on the process of this study, the various kinds of data of land use were obtained from existing land use map (1/30, 000: 1968) by setting the 500 square meters grid. And the detailed data of slope degree was gotton from the same grid. The pitch of contour line is 20 meters.
    (3) The first stage of this study was to understand the dynamic balance of land use through the changes of slope degree.
    (4) The second stage was to introduce the basic study to open space systems.
    (5) The results of this study in Osaka Prefecture are as follows.
    (1) Urbanized area was the dominant land use element, despite of the Iand use was too much confused on flat zone.
    (2) Forest and ricefield were on the tendency to change to urbanized area on the sloped zone under 24%.
    (3) Forest and rice field were stabilized on the sloped zone over24%
    (4) Forest was the dominant land use element on high sloped zone. The transltlon zone from inferior to dominant was 24% sloped areas,
    (5) Ricefield was also the donninant land use element on sloped zone, but this element was not so dominallt in higher sloped zone. The transition zone from inferior to dominant was 16% sloped areas.
    In this study only the relationship between land use and slope degree was discussed. But there are more and more elements that relate to land use and open space systems. The cognition of the complicated structurization of many elements are to be based on open spacesystems planning.
  • 都市公園の利用変動を季節による3区分の提案

    This study is objected to research the fluctuation of the number of peoples who come and use a park. The fluctuation of use is very important phenomena and the certain understanding of the rule of fluctuation make it possible to estimate the number of peoples coming to a park on a special day, or annual number of peoples by records of research in several days and to establish the research method of parkuse.
    In the research of this time, the writer led and considered “User Prediction Equation” based upon factors which are according to certain and given systematic fluctuation in use. The subjects of the study are the followings: Ueno Zoological Garden, Zindai Botanical Garden, Shinjuku Gyoen Park, Rikugien Park, Koishikawa Korakuen Park each in the year of Showa 46 and Shizen Kyoikuen Park through the years of Showa 43 to 47. The number of users are caliculated based upen the number of peoples who paid fee to enter Pay-Parks.
    The result of the research: The writer established the Prediction Equation by means of “Quantitication Theory” taking weather, days of the week and seasons as factors of fluctuation.
    From the result, the writer obtained stable figures in “Three Factors and Nine Category”, that is, fine, cloudy and rain for weather, holiday, Saturday and week day for days of the week, Spring, Summer/Autumn and Winter for seasons. The multiple corretation coefficient is 0.8 and more.

    An interpretation of the type of the Doto natural forest was carried out by an aerial photograph (1/20, 000) taken in July 1969. We would be happy if this could become a material to study forests from the stnadpoint of the science of landscaping.
    1) A similarity of fixed standards is necessary to survey forests. In the present study, we have adopted 4 interpretation factors: canopy group' tree species group, crcwn density class and tree height class. Their chief purpose is the management of natural forests, but they can also be utilized for many other purposes.
    2) A forest type map prepared from fixed standards would be greatly convenient for the coordination of opinions.
    3) The forest of this site of survey was good, as seen on the forest type map. This comes from the fact that an elaborate management of the natural forest was carried out.
    4) The science of landscaping, as a construction technique, has a relation between the forest and the life of human beings. From this meaning, too, aerial photographs are quite effective.
