Effects of preaging temperature and time, cold rolling ratio and final aging temperature on agehardening behaviors of Al-1%Mg
2Si base alloys were investigated by electron microscopy and microvickers hardness measurement. When Al-1%Mg
2Si alloys preaged at 200°C for different time are cold rolled by 30% and finally aged at 250°C, the increment of hardness during final aging decreases with an increase in preaging time. The increment of hardness by final aging decreases in accordance with a decrease in cold rolling reduction. When Al-1%Mg
2Si alloys preaged at 200°C for 15mn are cold rolled by 30%and finally aged in the temperature range 150°C to 300°C, the increment of hardness by final aging is observed at temperatures up to 250°C, but unobserved by final aging at 300°C.
