In this study, 56 female volunteers with chronic constipation and dry skin aged between 20 and 39 were divided into two groups of 28. Each group ate 120 ml of one of the following two yogurt products twice a day for 4 weeks : one a preparation with LB81 lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus 2038 and Streptococcus thermophilus 1131), and the other with added collagen peptide (CP) and ceramid (CE). The skin elasticity and the degree of dryness and scaling improved in each group after the administration period. The crevice density was significantly improved in the CP/CE group. In both groups, significant improvements were observed in most of the surveyed skin properties (19 properties surveyed). Constipation was significantly alleviated in both groups. The improvement effect of yogurt on skin function may be related to the improvement of constipation.
