Since 1970's oil crisis, Gasburning Engine is appreciated as an alternate fuel engine and as a keyhard of energy conservation system such as GAS co-generation.
Today, there are coming into practical use in the world.
Two types of gasburning engine; i.e. spark ignited gas engine and dual fuel engine, are developed by Niigata Engineering Co., Ltd. to meet the above mentioned current.
This paper describes a practical knowledge of gas engine performance and combustion characteristics which are acquired by experimental study from developing test, and also introduces three practical use and application, as follows:
Engine performance and a combustion characteristics
1) comparison of performance between spark ignited gas and dual fuel engine
2) effect of excess air ratio on both type of engine
3) risk of knocking during changing over on dual fuel engine
4) rated output in case of using alternate fuel gas
Practical use
1) spark gas engine for heatpump at a machinery plant
2) spark gas engine for co-generation system using LFG (LAND FILL GAS)
3) dual fuel engine for electric power supply on oil productive platform.
