In this paper, we explore the properties of organizational communication networks of female employees and discuss their implications for how management could motivate their female employees to be more active in organizations. Using data obtained through surveys and interviews, two properties of communication network are found. First, the female employee who is successfully involved in organizations has a certain kind of communicative disposition, according to which she accesses communication channels throughout the entire organization. Second, the female employee in this disposition autonomously commits herself to her job and attains job satisfaction. On the basis of this analysis, we propose organizational systems which stimulate more active communication and, thereby, more commitment to the organization by female employees.

This paper presents a software development method for sequence control systems used in production systems. We introduce State-Fence Diagrams (SFD) in which we describe dynamic behavior of objects in a system. An SFD can be converted from a event trace diagram, which is often used in system analysis for sequence control systems. An SFD includes three description styles according to the purpose. We use virtual objects which graphically represent the objects in a system for a prototype, simulation and actual operation. We then propose a software development method using SFD and virtual objects. Communications between software developers and users are promoted by using graphical representations of software specifications and objects.

An EUD is a necessary component for an advanced management information system, but it is not clear how an EUD can be realized. This paper presents a foundational study of EUD realization. The paper, first, specifies that the objective of an EUD is problem solving of a user on a computer, and then derives a problem solving architecture on a computer from systems theoretic consideration. Finally, the paper proposes a system development procedure for an EUD where the derived architecture is used as a problem solving framework.
