The purpose of this study was to investigate kinematically and kinetically the essentials of quick scissors feinting motion in soccer. Twentyone soccer-experienced (over 8 years) and nine inexperienced subjects participated in the experiment. In the feinting trial, they stepped over a ball with their left foot and then delivered the ball with their right foot toward a target direction. The feinting motion was captured with eight opto-electric cameras. Mean net time to accomplish the feinting motion was significantly shorter for the experienced group than for the inexperienced group (p<0.001). High positive correlations were found between the maximum amplitude of the CG displacement and the net feinting time (r = 0.852 and 0.608 for the transversal and vertical direction, respectively, p<0.001). This result suggests that it is important to avoid the large CG displacement especially in the transversal direction to accomplish quick scissors feinting. In addition, mean transversal displacement and mean vertical hight of CG and mean transversal speed of foot used to step over the ball were significantly different between the groups. Mean ground reaction forces during the stance just after stepping over the ball were significantly greater for the experienced group than for the inexperienced group. Experienced soccer players could accelerate explosively in the short stance after stepping over the ball because of successful CG controlling during scissors feinting.
