The preventative trials for the contamination of hospital food with foreign matter particularly, hair, are reported. The incidents of frequent near-accidents were recorded for 30 months, and the correlation between the number of near-accidents and the number of real contamination were analyzed. As a result, when the number of near-accidents increased for three near-accidents in a month in a row, contamination was confirmed. Fallen hair was observed most frequently in February. The increased level of cautiousness with regard to contamination that arose from the increase in near-accidents effectively prevented contaminated meals from being served for a year.
