    This paper described how the volume of respiration and the contribution between chest and abdomen were changed by clothing pressure of 3 types of jeans in standing and sitting postures. The results were as follows;
    (1) In the sitting posture, jeans with a little ease gave abdomen and sides of the body high clothing pressure. Clothing pressure on sides of the body was higher than that on abdomen in all 3 types of jeans.
    (2) In the analysis of clothing pressure, clothing pressure was effected by 3 factors; the types of jeans, the measurement postures and the physical characteristics of the subjects. On abdomen, the effect of measurement postures was greatest and on sides of the body, the effect of types of jeans was greatest.
    (3) The volume of respiration decreased and the chest contribution increased, as clothing pressure on abdomen became higher.

    In this paper, principal indices for voice quality are experimentally abstracted, which are effective on subjective evaluation of synthesized voice. First, 20 adults write down expressive terms for evaluating human voice, answering questionnaire. They give 516 kinds of expressive terms in total. From those terms, 26 pairs of terms are selected, which are generally used. Second, 21 adults read Japanese nonsense syllables, and their voice is recorded. The voice is used as stimulus on subjective evaluation test. Stimulus of each reader is presented to 18 subjects, and is evaluated with the 26 indices. The average score of the test is analyzed by the method of the principal components analysis and the Varimax rotation. As the results, clearness, hardness, manliness and individuality are given as the principal components. These indices are effective for subjective evaluation test of synthesized voices.

    Voice warning systems are becoming popular among various types of aircraft. The way to present voice warnings has not been fully studied, however. Two laboratory studies were done to investigate the effects of preceding non-speech tones and repetitive presentation of voice warnings which were presented to subjects while they were participating in a compensatory tracking task. The structure of voice warnings was changed in four such ways that singly or repeatedly presented warning voice was or was not preceded by non-speech tones. Subjects' response time and error rates to the warnings were measured as well as interference to the tracking task performance. Although preceding tones significantly delayed the system response time of the subjects, it was suggested that to use both of preceding tones and repetitive presentation of warning voice would be more effective to secure operators' response to the warning than the other combinations. Repeatedly presented voice may not function in the same way as do preceding tones.

    It is important to understand the characteristics of body form on boys and girls accordance with growth. But in many cases, the characteristics of body form has been discussed only by univariate measurement. To study the structural variation of body form on boys and girls accordance with growth, we should consider it with multivariate measurements. We used Canonical Discriminant Function extracting main effective discriminant axies about age. Consequently we were able to grasp the difference of body form between boys and girls, the growing-up amount and the growing-up speed.

    The present paper describes the effect of age and sex on both of data anthropometric measurement and physical capacity of 1176 aged (males and females) for the past four years. The sliding scales are made based on these data to investigate the characteristics of aged shape. Moreover, the relation between physical capacities and daily household working capacities is searched.
    The results show that both the values of anthropometric measurement and physical capacity decrease with aging and these tendencies are remarkably observed in females. The span (both hands extend laterally to their maximum length) is the better index than height to indicate the physical characteristics of aging. It is found that the proportion of height and physical capacity have correlations both with chronic disease and working capacity.
