In this paper, characteristics of spectral peaks of fluctuations of the time series, for fundamental frequency (F0) and peak amplitude (A), were examined for a pathological voice which was psychoacoustically evaluated as“Rough”.
The time series of the peaks of the original waveforms was obtained using a waveform editing software which we developed.
The spectrum of fluctuations was obtained by FFT, and spectral peaks with great amplitudes were examined.
    The following results were obtained.
    (1) A strong periodic variation for every 3-4 T0 (T0: average fundamental period) was observed in the fluctuations for both F0and A,
    (2) A periodic variation for 2 T0, which was smaller than that in (1), was also observed.
    (3) A characteristic pattern of fluctuations, i. e., H (high), (M (medium) ), L (low), L, H, was observed in each phase of the time series.
    (4) The aforementioned pattern (3) can be realized only when both of the above two characteristics, (1) and (2), are present.
    (5) For normal voices, characteristics (1) to (3) above were not observed.

The purpose of the present study was to analyze the characteristics of the speech of adolescents with severe and profound hearing impairments. This formed part of a broad study on accent and intonation in adolescents with severe and profound hearing impairments. The test words consisted of two-mora words in which the first or second mora is high-pitched. Parameters of acoustic analysis were fundamental frequency and intensity. Samples were recorded and analyzed by Phono-Laryngograph (RION SH-01) in experiment 1 and Digital Sona-Graph (KAY7800) in experiment 2. From the results of this study the following findings were observed.
The hearing impaired speakers realized accent in the following ways : (1) increase in intensity in the first mora of the test word, (2) increase in pitch in the second mora of the test word. The movements of pitch contour in normal hearing speakers were dynamic. In adolescents with severe and profound hearing impairments, dynamics were lower than in the normal speakers. For intonations, pitch movements at the end of utterances were examined. Word-final pitch rise occurred in normal speakers, but did not occur in adolescents with severe and profound hearing impairments.

The prognosis of brain damaged children, especially of head trauma and cerebrovascular MoYa-MoYa desease, was investigated through questionaires. It has been said that brain damaged children show better prognosis than brain damaged adults. However, through the analysis of their prognosis from educational aspect focussing on their motor and language development, learning ability, emotion and social adaptability, there were various problems and their long term and systematic observation is necessary. The medical care, education and welfare based on their prognosis should be improved and the team work and cooperation between their families and professionals should be progressed.

The autistic disorder is defined today as follows : 1) all symptoms manifest before 36 months of age, 2) social relationships with other peers or adults are qualitatively impaired, 3) verbal and nonverbal communication, and imaginative activity are qualitatively impaired, and 4) repertoires of activities and interests are markedly restricted. The author discussed about etiological aspect of the autistic disorder. A brain organic impairment is speculated as the cause of this disorder, but the conclusive elucidation is yet to be done. Even if a brain impairment is existing in the brain of the autistic disordered children, the relationship between the brain impairment and the resulting behavioral symptoms should not be straightforward.
In the next, various kind of behavioral symptoms of the autistic disorder are described, and the core structure of the symptoms is elusidated, paying special attention to the language problems.
Further, one adult case of the autistic disorder who showed very difficult social adjustment, contrasting rather high intellectual development is reported to illustrate how the autistic disordered lives.
Finally, a guideline for the therapy of the autistic disordered child is discussed, in which the establishment of attachment relationship in early infancy between the infant and the mother was specifically stressed.
