This paper reports an in-house development casestudy of adigitalfossil excavation gamepoweredby the Unity game engine, utilizing the Teshio gray whale fossils curated at the Teshio River Museum. Facing budgetary constraints that precluded external outsourcing, this curator-led development model effectively reduced costs while ensuring the seamless, rapid integration of curatorial insights. Based on this practice, this paper discusses sustainable content development strategies for small-scale regional museums aiming to leverage digital technologies for intellectual and cultural outreach.
