A nest of the Fairy Pitta was found on Siraki-cho, Hiroshima-shi, Hiroshima Prefecture (34°35′N, 132°39′E, 265m above sea level), western Japan. Five nestlings were observed in the nest on 5 July and fledged on 11 July.
A male White-throated Rock Thrush Monticola gularis was observed on Teuri Island (44°25′N, 141°19′E), western Hokkaido on 26 and 28 May, 1986. This bird was probably transported from the continent by a low pressure passing through Hokkaido on 24 May.
A nest and an egg of the Bulwer's Petrel was identified in Birou Island (32°28′N, 131°44′E), located at the northern coast of Miyazaki Prefecture, on 5 September 1998. This is the first evidence of breeding of this species in Miyazaki Prefecture. The nest and the egg was found in a crevice of a rock.
