Diarrheagenic Escheyichia coli O-25 is classified in Enterotoxin Escheyichia coli (ETEC), and several food poisoning cases were recently reported in Japan. We report a patient who died within a short period after the development of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) . The patient was a 98-year-old woman who developed watery diarrhea and nausea on the morning of the admission day. Six hours after admission, she died due to hyperkalemia. Autopsy showed severe pathological changes in the intestine and kidneys consistent with the diagnosis of HUS. To our knowledge, this is the first Japanese case of E. coli 0-25 as Enterohemorrhagic Escheyichia coli (EHEC) .
