Through studying 400 cases of knee roentgenograms the following values could be assumed, that is, 24.83°±4.16°of the angle between axis femoris -facies fossa intercondylaris and 11.35°±2.73° of the supplementary angle between axis tibiaris- facies articularis. We used these values were applied to the roentgenography. The spine position antero-posterior projection method (curve or flat cassette method) causes enlargement and distortion of the figure in the roentgenogram, and the prone position postero-anterior projection method has a difficulty in positioning and sometimes give a knee pain to patients. To avoid the above mentioned problems, the lateral position postero-anterior projection method which gives stability in positioning and exact figures was devised. And this method can be applied to the injured patient without knee pain.

The factors that affect the tomographic image quality are the X-ray beam collimation and the grid. The correlation between the thickness of a subject and the content of scattered X-rays was elucidated in our previous report. This report deals with the correlation between the content of scattered X-rays and the tomographic image on the objective plane. Conclusion 1. If the content of scattered X-rays remains unchanged, the tomographic image quality on the objective plane is constant, irrespective of the magnitude of the X-ray beam collimation, and also irrespective of whether a grid is used or not. 2. If the content of scattered X-rays is reduced, the image quality can be improved. 3. When the content of scattered X-rays is extremely low, the image quality is not influenced at all, whether a grid is used or not. 4. The tomographic image quality on the objective plane is greatly influenced by the content of scattered X-rays. If this content increases, the image quality suddenly deteriorates. 5. The special mask for photographing auditory ossicles wes test-made, contributing greatly to improvement on the tomographic image quality.

An Angiotomographic device using the principle of autotomography has been developed and its physical and radiographic characteristics as well as image quality have been tested. It has been found that pendulum angle of fifteen to twenty degrees provides best tomographic width for two times magnification. Two times magnification with this technique gives better theoretical and visual images than ordinary non-magnification angiotomography. Numerous clinical materials are available for evaluation and excellent images are obtained in patients with vascular diseases and brain tumros. It has been concluded that serial magnification angiotomography is a useful means and gives additional information in the diagnosis of cerebral diseases.

The human body shows various density gradients on the radiographs. When those density gradients are too high, the compensated radiographic techniques will be helpfull for the equalization of the density gradients. Thus radiographys with more informative areas on the single film may be obtained. It may be also reduce the radiation dose of the subject. On this issue, our experiences with the use of "Plasshel" for the hand-made filter are discussed. The "Plasshel" is a plastic splint which has heat plasticity.

We tried to compare the image clarity G4-RXO, G8-OG1 and Lanex Regular-OG1 screen film systems by visual evaluation and physical evaluation. These systems are designed by making use of green light emitting intensifying screens, which contain rare earth phosphors, combining these screens with green sensitive orthochromatic X-ray films the following evaluation were made. By physical evaluation, we obtained H & D curves, MTFs, Wiener spectrum and RMS granularity. By visual evaluation which was made by using Landolt's rings of various diameter, the chart was 0.9 mm thickness of Aluminium and water phantom of 18 cm thickness, we found that Lanex Regular-OG1 system was superior to all. However, the above findings after analysis were found to the following complication ; (i) that RMS granularity value of G4-RXO was higher than others. (ii) MTF value which did not affect the image clarity in these systems was higher in G4-RXO, followed by G8-OG1 and Lanex Regular-OG1. It should be pointed out that granularity was a most important factor in determination of image clarity in these systems the above our findigngs of mathematical analysis.

As CT system in using computer and cross section tomography (CT) have been popularizing in Japan, it became markedly the center of interest on CT installation. We have done several experiments on the basis of our experience in using EMI-CT-1000 from last year. Results obtained in this experiment were as follows ; 1. When a concentration of 60% conrey was diluted to 2^3 times a hole of 1 mm diameter in Mix DP phantom could be distinguished until 4 mm diameter of hole in the case of water. 2. When an absorption for X-rays of substance in hole was larger than that of around substance, the hole size in polaroid film was big in comparing with the life size. 3. The hole size could be got near to the life size in changing the window level and window width with response to the concentration of conrey. 4. Exposure dose of patient was low comparing CT scanning to cronial radiography. 5. An exposure dose could be reduced, if the sinistal position was applied in test of orbit of eyes due to get out of the way of direct exposure to that showed high radiosensitivity.
