In conformation therapy, the shape and size of a field is not constant but changed during the source rotation. For calculating dose distribution of conformation radiotherapy, the software of commercial computer for radiation treatment planning (MODULEX) was modified and expanded to the conformation treatment planning system. The system was designed to allow to input data necessitated for the dose distribution in conformation therapy ; e.g. Solutions to Tissue Maximum Ratio and Off Axis Ratio in the asymmetric irregular field in any source rotation angle. The entry of various parameters and the operation of this system is almost the same as current treatment planning system, it is easy and simple to utilize routine work. In this paper, the modified and extended programs for calculation of conformation dose distribution were described.

Radiographic images can be evaluated by the theory of entropy. This study is an evaluation about the process of development with the theory of entropy. As a result, the following was found on the transmitted information. 1. The system of development in a long time with low temperature is more superior than the system of development in a short time with high temperature. 2. The automatic processor has a difference by its variety of units. 3. It is better to use high temperature in development with the 90 seconds automatic processor. In conculusion, the best temperature is 33〜35℃.

The formulas are established for unsharpness of scanning direction in slit scanography. The unsharpness is arisen from two geometric unshapnesses which are due to slit and x-ray focus. In this paper, the two geometric unsharpnesses are formulated in term of modulation transfer function (MTF) as follows. S(u)=a sin (πubω/a)/πubω F(u)=F_0(au/b) where u=space frequency S(u)=MTF of unsharpness due to slit F(u)=MTF of unsharpness due to x-ray focus on image plane. F_0(u)=MTF of focus a=focus-slit distance b=object-image plane distance ω=slit width There is good agreement between calculated MTF and measured MTF.

On condition that MTF of filter had circular symmetry, seven low-pass digital filters, which covered a wide range of cutoff frequencies from 3.2/64 to 23.6/64 cycles/sample, were synthesized by using Fourier-Bessel transform. These filters were applied to 64×64 matrix image from a scintillation camera and then Fourier spectra of the processed images were computed. As a result of the spectral analysis the fact was verified that for allthe synthesized filter characteristics the spectrum components were zero over the stopbands and underwent almost no change over the passbands.

Electro-magnetic interference noisesgenerated from various sources in a hospital laboratory has been a subject of great concern, in auto γ counter system. This phenomenon was analyzed by a wave-form recording method using a system composed of a conventional cassette radio-recorder, an oscilloscope and a VTR. The recorded waveform noise was repeatedly monitored on the TV screen and its analysis showed that the noise frequency ranged from 0.5 to 90MHz. Two protection devices were applied : 1) A power line protection using a noise filter TDK ZAR 2205. 2) An interface line noise protection, that is, an optically coupled isolator NEC 2001. The combinded use of these divices offered good protection of γ counter system from misoperation due to interference noises.

In this paper, I introduced the out line of the present situation of Human engineering in Japan and the necessity for introduction of the thought of this one into the Radiological Technology. In addition to these reasons, I expressed the importance that the man who concerns radiation apparatus should endeavor to produce good, convenient, reliable and safe one. This will give a good result to the patient.

The latest diagnostic method in cross sectional radiography is making for an enormous increase of image information for highly effective and precise diagnostic analysis. In up-to-data computed tomography utilitying x-ray and radioisotopes, electronic signals caught by the detector are fed into the computer system to do image formation and analysis immediately while in conventional tomography the objective-plane with a blurring of disturbing-shadows forms a photographic image on the film. In 1950,Polytome by Massiot appeared. This had much clinical applications especially for tomography of the head and bones, producing more difinable image than tomography by Grossmann. Since around 1970,a pluridirectional tomographic device had been under construction in our country. This unit is quite effective in removing redundant shadows by means of diverse blurring movements such as circulas, elliptical, spiral, hypocycloidal on top of linear and sinusoidal. Here is a discription about the process of development, present situation outlook, comparison with computed tomography and number of problems involved in relation to the tomography we developed.

First of all, various types of X-ray image intensifier are introduced. Then, the factors influencing on the image quality of X-ray image intensifier are reviewed generally. X-ray image inetnsifiers have been improved continuously since their development. The procedure of the improvement is described in detail. Application of X-ray image intensifiers is reviewed finally. The revision includes not only present state of the arts, but also future development.
