The influence of TV cameras regarding I.I.-TV digital X-ray imaging systems has been investigated. The characteristics of pick-up tubes and their effects on the imaging system have been discussed. The results are as follows. 1)The scanning modes of TV cameras had some influence on the veiling glare fraction. 2)The modulation transfer factors were dependent on the light intensity level produced by the TV cameras.

We have evaluated the accuracy of three-dimensional endoscopic images which were reconstructed with a double threshold shaded surface display. The factors examined are as follows: thickness of three-dimensional endoscopic images, specific artifacts of spiral CTs. We used a spiral CT(SIEMENS SOMATOM PLUS). In this study, we used a Full Scatter Water phantom which is used in radiation therapy, SPECT QA Test phantoms with an empty acrylic cylinder and a Funnel phantom. The thickness of the wall on three-dimensional endoscopic image was influenced by the function of reconstruction, the threshold and the partial volume effect. When the phantom with an empty acrylic cylinder was obliquely laid on the Z-axis, a regular spiral artifact could always be observed. This was the same as the artifact which appeared in clinical three-dimensional endoscopy. This artifact was changed by collimation and table speed. If we take these three factors into consideration which influence the thickness of the wall on a three-dimensional endoscopic image and choose the least possible collimation and table feed, it is possible to improve the accuracy of three-dimensional endoscopic imaging.

By using an X-ray analyzer, it is possible to evaluate the performance of an X-ray apparatus, such as tube voltage, exposure time and irradiation dose. In this study, a comparison of irradiation dose was made using two X-ray analyzers(NERO 6000B and Model 100)and the conventional direct readout dosimeter(ionization chamber). The irradiation dose determined by Nero almost agreed with that by the conventional direct readout dosimeter for the 2-peak, 12-peak, constant potential and inverter-type X-ray generators. The irradiation dose determined by Model 100 dose not necessarily agreed with that by the conventional direct readout dosimeter at a lower tube voltage. The error is attributed to the detection theory(direct or indirect)of X-ray analyzers. The stability and reproducibility results by X-ray analyzers were excellent. Moreover, X-ray analyzers were safe and easy to handle. Therefore, they can be used for controlling the quality of X-ray generators, though we have to be careful about a characteristics of X-ray analyzers.

We have developed a simulation system called "NUCSS" for osteoplasty and in addition the "Surgi Plan" incorporating the most sophisticated version. Then, both these systems were compared regarding the hard aspect and principal performance and were fundamentally examined. As a result, when compared with NUCSS, the Surgi Plan having three-dimensional degree of freedom was seen as being the best. This enabled us to precise by process the actual surgical procedure. As to its clinical application, the Surgi Plan provided almost simular results as the postoperative three-dimensional CT images of the patient using craniofacial osteoplasty and patient having Chiari's pelviotomy.

For digital subtraction angiography(DSA) with C-type equipment, it is possible to radiate an X-ray during rotation and to collect data at different angular settings. We tried to reconstruct transverse image from data obtained by scanning DSA images at different angular settings. 88 projection data were obtained by rotating the object at 180゜ during radiation. Reconstruction was made using the convolution method with pixel value distribution for each projection. Similarly, the image quality of the reconstructed images were compared with the unsubtracted and subtracted ones. In case a part of object was outside the calculating region, artifacts were generally produced. However, the artifacts were reduced by subtracting the background from the image. In addition, the cupping phenomenon caused by beam hardening was relaxed and high-quality imaging could be achieved. This method will become even more effective, if we will use it with selective angiography in which the limited area is enhanced.
