In large construction built on the rock such as large concrete arch dams, the importance of knowledge About the properties of foundation has been recognized.
But almost all the methods of foundation test on site are required for excavation with the greatest cars and it could be greatly influence the results of the test.
Then, we studied a new method of rock shearing test without excavation. At first, holes (φ100%m/m depth 50-480cm) are drilled on the test point by a rotary boring machine. The bundles of PCwire are buried into the bore holes with mortal.
To pull out the PC-wire by the B.B.R.V.jack, it gives the cone shaped failure to the foundation rock. By this method, we can have average value of shearing strength of foundation rocks economically.

    1. Geology
    1) The Kushiro moor is a down-warped depositional basin which is consisted of the Kushiro formation (Deluvium) and alluvial deposits.
    2) The Kushiro formation (composed of gravel, sand, mud and volcanic ashes) is divided into 7 minor members, and the center of deposition in the moor was located in and around the Lake Toro in the early Pleistocene.
    3) In the alluvial age, however, the center of deposition in the moor has been located in the area 4-5km from the present coast line.
    4) The writers found a buried marine terrace lying at the depth of 20-30 meters under the western part of the moor and also found buried valleys, with a maximum depth of 80 meters under the south western part and eastern part of the moor.
    2. Groundwater
    1) The deep artesian groundwater in the moor originates from the aquifers of The Kushiro formation and the buried terrace gravels.
Alluvial deposits have only poor aquifers, because they are muddy.
    2) The deep artesian groundwater in the moor derives from the terrace area to the north west of this moor. The flow of the groundwater is almost at a standstill under the central part of the moor.

The writer carried out some investigatios in connection with the summarized study on geothermal survey for the purpose of geothermal exploration.
This paper constitutes a part of the thesis for a degree in which the investigation was found eligible some time ago in the University of kyoto.
It gives an outline of geothermal problems, as follows.
    I Introductory notes
II General statement of the subterranean heat.
II.1 The definition of the subterranean heat.
II.2 Natural conditions about geothermal area.
II.3 The mode of occurrence of thermal water and saturated steam.
III General statement of geothermal survey
    III.1 Speciality of geothermal survey.
III.2 Methods and contents of geothermal survey.

In planning of Sekigahara tunnel, 2809m long and situated in a disturbed area of Palaeozoic rocks at the midst Of Nagoya and Kyoto, a series of careful investigation (including borings and seismic prospectings) was made adequately and construction schedule was based closely on geological considerations. Seeing back from the actual results of driving, many faults and breccia zones were forecasted properly, and except several small troubles due to swelling of clay in altered slate, almost all the works have successfully been completed to;the end of this year.
Various data, such as obtained values of seismic velocity, kind of rocks, both infered and encountered, and thickness of lining concrete planned and adopted, are summarized in Fig.2.

We have grouped vaguely and generally a phenomenon of Landslide, and classified Landslide in the Shikoke district “Landslide along the geological tectonic zone”. According to the many knowledgesof Landslide, it is made known that Landslide in Shikoku shows a property coresponded to the geological condition and the tactonics.
So that, we must be consider a counter-plan of Landslide in accordance with the geological grounds.
We adjust the results of the many reseachs and studies with Landslide in the Shikoku and study the relation between the Landslide and the geological tectonics.
