After elderly person and young person sat on the wheelchair for 30 minutes, then evaluated sitting comfort. Sensory values of sitting comfort were measured by the SD method. The results of sensory evaluation were examined by the factor analysis and the technique of the information theory. The results were as follows: (1) When elderly persons sat on the wheelchair, they evaluated the sitting comfort by two adjectives“Easy at seat”and“Comfortable”. After they sat on it for 30 minutes, they evaluated the comfort by“Tireless”and“Painless at seat”.(2) When young persons sat on the wheelchair, they evaluated the sitting comfort by two adjectives“Easy”and“Soft at seat”. After they sat on it for 30 minutes, they evaluated the comfort by“Easy”and“Tireless”.(3) The amount of transmitted information for young persons in sitting on wheelchair was more than that for elderly persons, and that after 30 minutes for young persons was less than that for elderly persons.

This study investigated the relationship between the structures of impressions of a speaker's person ality-traits and the affinity impressions without visual information. Sixty-five subjects evaluated impressions of the s peaker's personality in a telephone dialog. A factor analysis of data from 760 observations revealed three factors: extraversion (brigh tness), gentleness (agreeableness) and social desirability (cleverness). An analysis of data from 382 observations of uncongenial pers ons revealed a further factor: emotional stability (optimism). Analysis of data from 219 observations of congenial persons also re vealed the originality (imaginative power) factor. This five factor structure resembles the Five Factor Model. There is a negative correlation between the evaluation of gentleness toward uncongenial persons and the evaluation of originality toward congen ial persons.

Originally, the ultimate goal required in loudspeaker systems is to realize flat frequency character istics. However, from the pleasant sound standpoint, loudspeaker systems with flat frequency characteristics do not all w ays produce testy sound. We i ncorporate the movable sound mechanism in the resonance port of the loudspeaker systems. By automa tically synchronizing the movement with music, the Helmholtz resonance frequency is controlled to the frequency of sound to be enhanced. As a result, l oudspeaker systems in which the resonance frequency changes in the real-time manner are developed. These loudspeaker systems also have the visual entertainment nature that a resonance port moves to real-time manner according to music. We played music using these loudspeaker systems, and evaluated them in sense using the AHP method. From the result of the evaluation, the pred ominance of new loudspeaker systems which we developed is proved here.

The visual field test can be used to examine the visual field impairment or diagnose the progressive degree of some ophthalmologic diseases like glaucoma. The visual field impairment is related to the optic nerve im pairment. The doctor's views of some optic nerve impairments are about optic discs and retinal nerve fiber layers. In this research, I applied a semantic differential method to these doctor's views, and calculated the glaucoma probability which occurs by use of the algorithm harmonized the fuzzy theory and multivariate analysis. The visual field test was performed in 99 eyes of 99 patients wit h glaucoma, and we calculated their glaucoma probability. The fundus photography was performed in 16 eyes of 27 patients with different ophthalmologic diseases, for example, AMD and the macular hole. And we calculated their cup/disc ratios. The visual field test, the fundus photography and semantic differential method was performed in 1 eye.

In this paper, we present“The Bush Telegraph”, a system that explores possibilities for visualizati on of expert's making music skills through the use of augmented reality techniques. It is intended to make expert's tips and skills more quickly understandable, easier to imitate, and immediately applicable to one's own creative music making. T o use the system, a user places cards on a table. The system interprets the cards' positions as notes in a musical pattern. By maki ng musical structures visible, audible and tangible, the user is able to more quickly understand the musical results of their acti ons, and what they might do next. In a workshop on making“techno”dance music, all users were able to quickly imitate an expert's ti ps and skills, and then make their own musical patterns based on this knowledge. These results strongly suggest a role for this system in creative music making and learning.

The purposes of this study examine searching new standard for building practical model for evaluating cosmetic puffs. The model will be rescaled by some these standards. If it is possible, the evaluating process will be able to reduce more than present. Foundation, it is one kind of cosmetics is not evaluated only itself. Also it will come the complex evaluation with cosmetic puffs, skins and foundation. The process is influence of KANSEI moreover. In this study, I collected chara cteristic KANSEI words from the cosmetic fields for design of sensory evaluation sheet. I prepared sensory evaluation data and phys ical test data based on Japanese Indicate standards. At first, I analyzed correlation coefficient of them. Next, I analyze factor an alysis about KANSEI data from sensory evaluation. At last, I calculate multiple linear regression analysis between KANSEI factor and physical factor. The aim of this study is to seeking something item from physical factor that is considered having strong relationsh ip with KANSEI.

We conducted a survey on how does human feel about a historical landscape and a natural landscape such as beautiful mountains and rivers. The investigation region was limited to three areas of Ueda City in Nagano, the eastern part of Nara City, and the downtown area in Tokyo. There were a lot of people who felt the solemnity, relief, and the tradition for a natural landscape and a historical landscape. And, there were a lot of people who felt vigorous spirit in the cityscape. If the landscape, which makes people' s mind rich, was lost, it investigated by the remembrance method how much the counter value would become. According to results, the remembrance value about the eastern part of Nara City with Nara Park was high. And the remembrance value about Ueda City in Nagano was low. It suggests that a regional difference about economy value of a landscape to do a heart wealthily was confirmed.

Nine young male Japanese non-musicians listen to 48 chords. The 48 chords consist of four kinds of t riads. Each triad is composed of three synthetic piano tones. The subjects' EEGs of 10 electrodes are measured. Principa l component analysis shows that variation of EEG power for about five seconds while listening to chords consists of two factors. Th e first factor, mainly composed of δ-band and θ-bandpower, is related to time course. The second factor, mainly composed of α-band and β-band power, is related to processing of triads. The analysis also shows that the activities of left-temporal and f rontal lobe vary depending on the chord compositions. And the activities of right-temporal lobe vary by listening to major triads. Th e activities of left-occipital lobe vary by listening to diminished triads.β-band power of frontal, temporal, right-parietal and rig h t-occipital lobe is reduced by listening to augmented triads.

The fantastic light of firefly, which keeps fascinating the heart of Japanese from ancient time, and the ecosystem are taken up as one of cure fields being benefit from the nature. In this study, from the viewpoints of seman tic differentials and engineering, we focused on the light of firefly, and we examined whether it causes the human spirit any effects or not. We further developed the light and sound mutual conversion system based on biological information for welfare utilizations. It was possible to find for welfare utilizations that there is the high possibility that a sufficient cure effect exists in the light a nd the sound mutually converted by the developed system. This research is the first basic trial turned to the creation of cure space for h ospices and welfare facilities.

In general, it is said that total evaluation is comprised of individual evaluation. Eating Quality is comprised of such several different factors as including influences such as the past experience and mental and physical state of the consumer. The purpose of this research is to make clear the specific method of improvements that the consumers can feel further deliciousness and desirability in diameter. In this research, we carry outKanseiEvaluation on different millimeter in diameter. The samples are 4 sausages that consist of same materials. From the results of 95% critical intervals of means, it is identified that minimum diameter brings about the deliciousness. The points of improvements in diameters is clear by figuring Principle component scores with deliciousness and desirability. In each diameter, individual evaluation defining deliciousness and desirability is different. The customers can feel further deliciousness and desirability by the making clear the points of improvements in diameters.

Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT), a representative neurotransmitter and chemical mediater present in the human brain and body, is closely related to appetite, feeling, hallucination, sleep, and regulation of body temperature. The action of 5-HT is expressed via at least seven kinds of serotonin receptors. Among them, the 5-HT_2Aserotonin receptor, which is distributed in the thalamus and spinal cord controls the suppression of noradrenaline release. The 5-HT_2Agene promoter polymorphism at -1438G/A can lead a significant change of the protein amount synthesized and has an influence on the biological functions. The gene polymorphism of 144 volunteers (44 women, 100 men) was analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using allele specific primers. We examined the association of 5-HT_2Apolymorphism with body mass index (BMI) values and eating-habits. The BMI values of GG (57), GA (44), and AA (43) genotypes were 21.31±3.19 kg/m², 22.62±3.59 kg/m², and 21.41±5.33 kg/m², respectively, indicating a significant difference between GA and AA groups. Although height was almost same among three groups, the weight of AA group whose 5-HT_2Asynthesis was more than the GG and GA groups was 1.9-4.8 kg less than other groups. Compared with the GG and the GA groups, the AA group had a tendency to extract a meal and to dine out, buy lunch from a convenience store, and daily dish more mostly from the questionnaire on eating habits. The 5-HT_2Agene polymorphism was only slightly related to drinking habits and the polymorphism of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH2) gene, a key enzyme of alcohol metabolism and alcohol consumption.

The purpose of this study is the development of the device which presents the information by modulated vibration on the tactile sense. However, there has been no study that tried to the evaluation of cognition to the modulated vibration on the tactile sense. In this paper, the effectivevaluation method of the vital reaction on the discrimination task of the modulated vibration stimuli was proposed, which based on both the Event Related Potential as a physiological index and psychophysical quantity. As a result, the proposed method was effective for quantitatively evaluation on discrimination of modulated vibration, and the efficiency of the evaluation work was improved approximately 50%.
